I dropped my smartphone in the toilet today

so i dropped my motorola droid in the toilet at work today.  As far as the nastiness of that i probably couldn't have asked for a better toilet for it to happen in considering my boss is a neat freak and has the bathrooms of our office building cleaned twice a day.  a quick message to tested.com's will smith had him suggest i put it in a bag of rice to act as a desiccant to wick away the moisture.  It seems to be helping.  for a moment right as the whole thing happened, i got that sinking feeling in my stomach and was instantly mad at my own clumsiness.  What's the last thing you broke or thought you broke that gave you the feeling? what did you try to do to fix it?  

Urgh. That sucks.

i forgot to empty my pockets one time for washing. my phone got washed. i turned the phone on and it started sizzling so i turned it off. i let it dry for a couple of days. it worked fine except the battery only lasted a day and the speaker doesn't work. i had to keep it on vibrate.

Like. A plate a few days ago. Just seeing it slip from your hands, without being able to do anything.. the horror.

Well that wasn't...smart...I'm so sorry.

I actually made the poor decision of letting someone i don't know use my moto droid last friday, and it completely died as soon as it was handed back to me. 
A replacement is on it's way but damn my generosity.

Damn, that sucks. Last week, I scratched the shit of of my car in a parking garage. Some dick almost hit me, but I avoided him by moving into a compact car parking spot between two pillars. 

well i almost dropped my friends glasses that he just handed to me...  i had this really bad feeling in a timeframe of a second but thank god i caught it...

... Probably when I dropped my Blackberry Tour in the toilet. A toilet I had just pissed in. The phone was fried. As was my hand.

You didn't have it in your shirt pocket did you? Those are the worst.

Flushed a phone down the toilet once, it was an automatic toilet.

I dropped my last phone in the dogs water bowl. It still worked though, but I used it as an excuse to get a new phone anyway :)

I dropped a phone into a yerinal at a movie theater before, and another phone into a bowl of cereal. Both were broken beyond saving, and i had the same feel in my stomach that made me curse my own stupidity. 

Definitely put it in a bag of rice for a day or two.

Just hearing about electronics in water makes me cringe. A couple of years ago I dropped a GBA in a pool and I had to take a hairdryer to it, but it started working again. Still have it to this day.

Replacing my RAM, as soon as the new stuff was in, almost instantly dropped the old and broke a corner off it.

Years ago when i carried around the big PS2 in my back pack, the bag droped off of a bench at the bus stop, the drawer to the ps2 poped open and would not close, i was soooo pissed and that stomach feeling was there the whole way home, until i could fix the damn thing lol. was sooo happy.

After playing with my puppy this weekend I found out I broke my phone in the process of playing peekaboo in the grass. Most of the important stuff like pictures were on the SD card but it's all OK since I'm switching carriers this Friday anyway!

Scratching my monitor still drives me nuts. I can't not see imperfections!

In on my 7th iPhone.  I have a habit of dropping them in places that arent good for them or smashing the screens.  Last one I left on the roof of my car and drove off and it smashed.  God bless insurance.

my housemate spilled beer all over my laptop. I could barely speak to him. turned out it the keyboard needed to get replaced. this turns into a story about how Dell has probably one of the worst customer service ever!

My watch fell on the floor of the men's bathroom in Montreal airport and I was so disgusted that I just left it there.
