For me it's pretty dependant on which city it's in, but I'm really interested to see how it turns out. I'm sure that many indie developers wont show up down here.
PAX Australia, will you go? How different will it be?
@laserbolts: C'mon now .. Canada is close enough to Seattle and Boston that the majority of people I hang out with there are Canadian. We have to share the love of PAX all over the world! Australia or the UK would have been the best choices (as Germany has Gamescon) and many places in Asia have their own gaming conventions (not to mention language barrier problems). Australia gets shafted with EVERYTHING video games. Glad to see them get something down under!
Oh I'm not complaining about Australia getting a PAX I'm just saying I wish there was a PAX north or something.

Wait. There's going to be a PAX in Australia?
Don't they, like, hate M-rated games and shit? That just seems like the oddest fucking thing ever.
^ This.
@konig_kei: I'd assume Melbourne as well, considering all the artsy stuff goes on there. But man, if it was in Perth or Adelaide, I would be there so fast.

We just passed R rated games into law, will be in full swing come next year.
I'm hoping for Melbourne... Brisbane would be fucking terrible for a con during the warmer months. Sydney might be ok if they book up venues at Homebush (also I would only have to drive 3 hours instead of 7 :P).

PAX North located on Baffin Island so all the Russians, Icelandic, Scandinavians, and Canadians can have a giant snow ball fight. I would back that Kickstarter!
Having no clue about Australia's geography, I say put it right in the middle. That way everyone has to travel.
I wish I was going, just for the new PAX experience and see the men at work there.
Sadly I won't be going to a land down under

Melbourne, Melbourne, Melbourne, Melbourne please god Melbourne.

If it's in Melbourne and the ticket prices is reasonable I'd go.

if its in Melbourne il definitely go, Sydney maybe..
All of these comments are correct, it should go to Melbourne, and it would make me exponentially happy.
However, were it to go to Sydney, I would buy a plane ticket the day it was announced.
Hopefully it's in Melbourne, that would be amazing. Either way, not matter which state, I'll be going.
As a Canadian who hasn't been to any PAX, if I have to travel internationally I might as well travel to Australia right? But realistically I'm more likely to go to Gamescom or TGS.
Pretty sure I'll be flying to wherever it ends up but I'm thinking it'll be either Brisbane or Melbourne considering they're the only places that will have Manabars which Jerry's already pointed out he's going to make an effort to go to
@ChadMasterFlash: Yea...that's the middle of the desert and not a Las Vegasy desert either.
Well, I live in Tasmania, Australia and I'm absolutely going. I don't see why any gamer wouldn't make the pilgrimage to whatever city it's in. This is a huge opportunity.
I think I'm more excited to go for everything that surrounds the games, rather than than the games themselves. I'll probably check out the PAX 10 and other indy games, but spend most of my time meeting people and drinking.
Oh, and yeah it will totally be in Melbourne or Brisbane OR they'll open a Mana Bar in Sydney and have a joint launch + PAX afterparty there. PAX Australia is being managed by that massive derp Yug, who is a co-creator of Manabar, so I'm sure he'll arrange for it to happen. Not that it's just him being self-serving. There's a strong case for any of the major east coast cities to host it, so why not have it somewhere where you own a perfect place to host an afterparty?
