From what I remember, it was of a WW2 game on the 360 that was closely tied with the History Channel and occurred fairly early on in the site's life. I skimmed all the QLs from 2008-2010, but nothing jumped out at me. I looked through all of the games linked to the History Channel (GB seems to actually be the central authority on this over anywhere else on the internet), and none of them have videos linked to them.

The History Channel: The Battle for the Pacific -This is the most likely candidate I can find although there are no videos of it on the site and it came out months before GB was created. They would have had to reach back for this uh gem to QL it and I don't think that's likely.

The only other step I can think to take is to skim every single game linked to WW2 and that's more daunting than skimming several years of QLs. No thanks. It's possible that it wasn't a WW2 game at all, but I doubt it. Only other detail I remember is that the level was very orange as if it was in a desert or maybe Pacific island environment. I have to be looking in the wrong place.

Is it possible you're conflating Battlefield 1943, the 360/PS3 smaller scale remake of Battlefield 1942 in which a pacific island map was the biggest, with the History channel Deadliest Warrior games that were kinda around the same time? I don't have any memories of them quick looking the history channel WW2 games but I remember suggesting the X-COM style one for Vita many years ago.

Any chance it could be the Quick Look that Brad and Vinny did for Battlestations: Pacific in 2009?

Are you sure it wasn’t a civil war game? It might be Darkest of Days. Did it have Drew in it? What else do you remember? Memory can be a funny thing.

Battlefield 1943 is a good suggestion because it was an XBLA only game in an otherwise AAA franchise, which could have given me the "what's the point of this?" feeling. The visuals of the QL and the lack of History Channel just doesn't match up with my memory. The game I'm thinking of was very budget and unremarkable, plus the industry had recently moved away from WW2 games because of WW2 fatigue, yet here they are releasing another one that is worse than the games that gave us that fatigue in the first place. I just thought "who is this for?" the entire time and that's why I remember it. There is another History Channel game called Legends of War: Patton. That rings a bell for some reason, but it's not the right kind of game and it was released too late. It could have been something they looked at in a live show and wasn't tagged, but I don't think so.

While not a WW2 game, the Raven Squad quicklook fits the time period of the video and the setting.

This is a good suggestion too, and I looked at it before making this thread, but it just doesn't match up in enough major ways. I know this isn't it.

It's definitely not Darkest of Days. That's one of my most watched QLs of all time. I may be misremembering the WW2 part. It could have been some other conflict, but I can't imagine what. It may also not be History Channel. It may be tied in with something else that's similar. There was a historical emphasis to it. Like it was trying to sell to a market that was more interested in historicity over being a good game, yet it was doing it on the 360, which is what confused me so much. May not have been a 360 game though. I can't rule out misremembering that detail.

A good suggestion, but it's just not the right kind of game. It was more like a bootleg medal of honor game.

If it's a History Channel game it might have been taken down. Wasn't a HC fighting game QL removed for copyright claims?

Are you sure it wasn't the Battleships quick look with Ryan and Klepek? If you remember who was on the QL, you can filter on qlcrew.com by cast and date.

Nah it's not that. I was thinking about who was in it and if I had to guess I'd say it was Jeff and Vinny or Jeff and Drew. Not positive at all though.

That brings up a good point. Since they moved the videos to Youtube it could have been taken down for bogus copyright reasons. I don't know that it was specifically a History Channel game, but it had some sort tie-in with that or some other channel like maybe the Military Channel. Pretty fuzzy on this detail but I want to say it used documentary footage as level lead-ins in a bizarre "this barely has anything to do with the actual game" sort of way and maybe that would have caused copyright issues.

They did Deadliest Warrior? Could be copyright, then.
