So as some of you probably already know, the US Dollar is now worth less than the Canadian Dollar, which as of this momemt, the current exchange rate is 1 USD = 0.96 CAD. Normally I wouldn't have given much second thought, but as I was looking over my credit card statement for the month of March, I noticed a peculiar thing. Now a little pretext: I live in Canada (BC specifically) and as most Canadian steam users know steam charges only get applied the going exchange rate; no 12% HST bullshit to deal with, no P.O. Boxing, or driving down to Seattle to save money. So when I noticed that my last steam purchase of $53.98 USD was converted to $53.84 CAD, first thought that popped in my mind was was:
FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER A CANADIAN GAMER PAYS LESS FOR A GAME THAN AN AMERICAN!
Woah...this feels wierd...I need to go sit down.
All jokes aside, I know it's only a measly 14 cents when it comes down to it, but still, it's a little bit surreal to ever see the moment that I would pay less for a game in CAD than I would have if I went to the US to buy the game. That being said, how do other Canadians (or Americans, for that matter) feel about this disturbance in the force?
A Shocking Discovery!
Call me when Japanese ROM hackers begin a fan translation of Conker's Bad Fur Day. How do you keep a British accent in Japanese?
