The Light Against the Darkness challenge event launched at 6:00 PM 4/7 PST (2:00 AM 4/8 UTC). Complete the event dungeons to recruit the Dark Knight Cecil and the Paladin Cecil. Defeat the last boss in the event, and you could get a valuable Greater Summoning Orb. It won't be easy, but with greater risk comes greater reward!
Overall, this event seems to be easier than Shinra Tower. It came out first in Japan, so it should be balanced for a lower-level party and seems to be that way from what I have got through so far. Also there is a large number of FF4 gear available and that synergy bonus is worth it. Also, nearly every boss in the dungeon is vulnerable to Fire and Holy. To deal holy, heal the opponent; if they're undead, they take damage.
This dungeon provides two new characters:
- Cecil (Dark Knight) Located at the 5th Crossing (6th area). 77-79 Stamina in.
- Cecil (Paladin) Located at the Summit Stone (final area). 277 - 283 Stamina in.
Preparation Notes
- Get FF4 Equipment. Record Synergy is easy for FF4 so upgrade that equipment and use it.
- Get Fire Spells. From looking at the Japanese version only 2 bosses aren't weak against Fire (and it'll do just fine on Final boss, too). Fire, Fira, Firestrike etc.
- Get Healing Spells. Not only do they keep you alive, they're are useful against a couple of the bosses.
- Remember that 1* gear upgraded to 3* 10/10 is VERY powerful. For example, Kunai (IV), has 75 Attack in this dungeon when fully upgraded!
- Kain and Rydia get Record Synergy bonuses in this dungeon, which will help a lot but not be required. The characters acquired in this dungeon also get Record Synergy bonuses.
- Don't spend Mythril to rush to the end. It's gonna be around for a while. Rushing it is a waste.
