I just finished up FEAR 2 after roughly 6 or 7 hours of gameplay, and for the most part it was enjoyable - though unfortunately not nearly as much as the original FEAR was for me.
The underlying gameplay of FEAR is still intact and as robust as ever and the game does look and sound great but there was a serious lack of challenge to it. I played through it on the hardest difficulty and had no trouble whatsoever until some of the last few sections of the game, and even then it was only a matter of retrying the section two or three times before passing it. I also found it to be much less scary than the original, mostly due to the longer lasting/ faster replenishing slow-mo effect, and the less frequent "Alma moments".
That being said, it was fun and has totally left it open for another game in the series after the somewhat bizarre climactic ending.
Now to play FEAR 1 again!

Yes, that ending was bizarre indeed, I really enjoyed the game, I thogh it was more scary than the 1st but not as Scary and the Condemned games
Yeah, you should. The Condemned games are much grittier than the FEAR games, and that makes it a bit scarier, in my opinion. I can handle the ghosts of dark-haired girls, because that sort of thing has almost reached the point of cliche in our culture.
But fighting for your life against a wrench-wielding hobo? That's fucking intense. A serious, human interaction with the flight-or-fight response.
I enjoyed FEAR 2, was a fun ride, even though the ending was a big, "BUY FEAR 3! TO FIND OUT WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED!!!!!" Monolith employee runs away cackling...
I haven't beat F.E.A.R. 2 quite yet. I'm on the last two missions, just got into the crater. To be honest...not sure if I'm going to end up beating it. I never seem to be able to play a game all the way through to the end most of the time. = / It's weird.
That and I don't know how much more of the monotony I can take with that game. grrrrr
I found that FEAR 2 wasn't exactly scary. Nor was it nerve twitching or jumpy for that matter. But it is a solid game, as for the story I couldn't give a crap. They didn't shove the narrative too far down my throat enough. Although that Snake Fist (Not spoilerific) guy is awesome.

Still, will have to wait until I get the full game to make any bigger conclusions.
