dude that game is intense. i could totally do without the terrible shooting gallery modern-rendition-of-asteriods section of it though. i wonder what motivated EA to leave that part of the game feeling so awkward when they went to the effort to polish everything else. luckily i only had to try 10 times to finish that section. frustration.

also, i had to have my wife sit in to let me know (by screaming and becoming hysterical) which parts of the game were scary. i could tell what was meant to be scary, but it didn't really rattle my bones.

i got to chapter 5 on medium in my first play through. i'll post what i think about the rest of the game later.

ps. not to discredit my wife, but she was hyped up on amnesia and penumbra videos. most of the time during dead space she was yelling "KILL THAT MO FO! KILL THAT MO FO!"

It does feel out of place in the overall game. As a set piece, it's interesting, but the mechanics certainly don't match up to the rest of the game. I think it's part of the "Modern Warfare" syndrome of gaming were we always need to have some sort of set piece every 15 minutes or gamers get bored. Unfortunately, there is very little that tends to be interesting about a turret sequence, especially when it feelings overwhelmingly hard.
