A Japanese Dream Cast for Supergaint’s Hades (Spoiler Culture type be warned: abandon all hope of avoiding whatever constitutes as spoiler to you before scrolling down.) People love to say that the journey is the friends travelers make on the way. Yours truly would love to insert “foes” into that sentence when it comes to video game. People participate in more mayhem than mingling in that media...

In two words: knife durability. I already didn’t this mechanic in the RE2 remake, but bringing it into RE4 is manifestly more egregious because it fundamentally clashes with the gameplay loop and mechanics in a way that it didn’t in RE2. My aim here is to explain why that’s the case. But first let’s look at how knives worked in the other RE games and the changes in the design that happened. Ear...

A Japanese Dream Cast for Supergaint’s Hades (Spoiler for Type-Moon stuff, Supergiant’s Hades, anything branded “A Hideo Kojima Game”, Saint Seiya Knights of the Zodiac and Greek Myth in general.) This is a blog yours truly thought up at the “ tender ” age of 30 but could not write until they got Type-moon brained and more importantly Homer (not Simpson, mind you) brained at the “ r u gged “ ag...

Phasmophobia is a ghost-hunting horror that became a cult hit following its launch in late 2020. For this Halloween season, I spoke to one of its most loyal followers and former Giant Bomb mod, Trace Evans. ___ Gamer_152: What's your name? Who are you? What do you want? PeaceEgg: I'm Trace, Peace Egg on the Internet. I'm a streamer and speedrunner who's best known for being part of the team tha...

Well, 'tis the season. Not that season, the better one. The spooky one. I didn't make any big plans for horror games this month by way of last year's Itchy, Tasty Spooktathlon but I did have a couple of items I wanted to check out for when it was thematically apropos to do so. The first of those is Red Bow , a short narrative-focused horror game from one-person dev team Stranga (if you automati...

The Weirdest Elder Scrolls Game Ever Made Is On PC Game Pass! (Maybe Don't Play It!) I know like two people are actually going to read this blog, but FUCK IT! I want to talk about this game! The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard has a reputation . It is widely considered one of the worst games in the series and plays almost nothing like what we all would consider the norm for the franchise tod...

After he introduce d the topic of Japanese voice actors into the “Giantbomb canon” on the site’s watch along anime podcast, I finally started to write this following bullshit up . NieR Automata resembles Nausicaa...

A selection that shouldn't surprise anyone who reads these things with any regularity, this Indie Game of the Week will cover LabsWorks 's Astalon: Tears of the Earth from 2021, an 8-bit style explormer from the development lead that released the equally-gruelling 8-bit style explormer Castle in the Darkness (dude has a type). Three heroes approach an ominous tower in the middle of a desert det...

Preamble (i.e., Edgerunners Is A Good Show, But....) I'm not trying to pee in people's cereal, but..... There's a bit of a storyline on Giant Bomb of me not being a fan of the well-known anime studio, Studio Trigger. During the Whiskey Media days, I penned several scathing reviews for Kill la Kill that got me endless hate mail and even death threats. Later, equally undesirable were my early cal...

There's a lot of genres I'm into, but relatively few that I'll voraciously consume whenever they appear. With so many games coming out all the time it's hard to stay up to date with something as broad and popular as, say, RPGs or adventure games; however, those few very specific genres that I do fixate on tend to be released in what I would consider to be a moderate rate: Explormers , Soulslike...
