Bardock

Bardock is the father of Raditz and Kakarot (Goku). He is a low-class Saiyan warrior (with a estimated power level of 10000) who leads a team under the command of Frieza. Bardock is given the gift of precognition by the last of an alien race they are employed in destroying. Bardock soon after has visions of his own race being exterminated by Frieza. He then goes on a quest to change his fate by killing Frieza but he fails as Planet Vegeta is destroyed and he is killed along with almost the entire Saiyan race. However he dies proud as he experiences his final visions of his son Kakarot growing up and becoming a great warrior, and eventually taking Frieza on himself. He dies knowing that he and his race will be avenged one day by none other than his own son.

Another Road

In the game Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai - Another Road (Shin Budokai 2) Goku meets Bardock in other world and brings him and Pikkon to Earth for a day to help fight against Maijin Buu. This is the only time Goku and Bardock have ever met properly in person, however it should be noted that this is not regarded as an official part of the events in Dragon Ball Z. And while there would be no real difference, this is the Bardock from the same timeline as the Trunks of the future and therefore is not the Bardock from the timeline Goku belongs in.

Appearance

Bardock looks extremely similar to his son Goku while bearing virtually no resemblance at all to his older son Raditz. With the exception of skin tone and the scar on his face, he has the exact same features. It was once noted by the Saiyan Turles that some Saiyans look extremely alike. Bardock, Goku, Turles and Goten all looked extremely alike with one of the few differences being the skin tone. Goten changed his hair as he grew up to stop him getting confused with his father. Bardock along with every other Saiyan at the time had his tail present, to enable his transformation to the Oozaru form. He wears green and blue Saiyan armor; the top half bearing resemblance to the armor worn by Vegeta, Trunks, Goku and Gohan in the Cell Saga, but with the addition of leg guards. He also has a green scouter and a headband stained red with blood from his team mates. It was originally worn by his best friend and team mate Toma, Bardock wears it to honor his fallen friends.

Bardock was always designed to strongly resemble Goku, however he didn't look quite as similar in his original draft designs or concept art. In his original design Bardock had similar, but more upright hair than Goku. His outfit was also altered in his final design, with his armor in a lighter shade of green and bare legs. His team was also completely different with Toma looking thinner and his hair looking similar to Vegeta's. However it was always planned that there would be a female member of the team and that the team would consist of five members in total.
