Character Bio
Angela Cross' first appearance in the
series was in
Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando, though she was due to feature in the shelved Ratchet and Clank: Clone Home mobile phone game. Although she resembles a
Lombax, in
Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction it is revealed that
Ratchet is the only one of his kind, making Angela a variation of the race.
Angela lives on planet Siberia, an icy planet in the Bogon galaxy where she has a house that she got from working in Megacorp.
She was an employee of Megacorp, but stopped working for them after they released the Protopet she was working on into the public, unfinished. Realising the threat it posed to the galaxy, she began tracking it down to capture it and prevent any danger. At this same time, Megacorp hired Ratchet and
Clank to protect the Protopet after Angela, disguised as 'The Mysterious Thief' had attempted to steal it. In an effort to protect herself, she hired Thugs-4-Less to guard both her and the stolen Protopet.
Hoping to divert Ratchet's focus, she kidnaps Clank, hoping she can make a deal with him. This plans fails however, after someone bought out her contract with Thugs-4-Less. Left with no protection, Ratchet finds her and defeats her in battle, taking the Protopet aswell. Later, she confronts Ratchet and Clank, revealing the danger the Protopet has, but by then its too late, as Ratchet has already handed over the Protopet to Megacorp.
Ratchet and Angela join forces to stop the protopet menace and stop Qwark.
Ratchet eventually faces and defeats the giant Protopet, and Angela puts the batteries in the remote in the right way round, allowing them to shrink it back to its original size.
For the first time since Going Commando, Angela's existence was acknowledged in
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time. In a radio report in the Corvus sector, she is referred to as a 'Lombax rebel', confirming her race. In the brief discussion, the news readers discuss whether the absence of her tail would mean she wasn't a Lombax, before it was revealed only the males possessed such anatomy. The report also mentions that she had been missing for almost 3 years, and was last identified trying to flee from
Emperor Tachyon's terror, escaping on Max Apogee's spacecraft which was later found to be empty when recovered by authorities after a space pirate raid. They also speculate that the inhabitants of Kerchu perhaps offered to hide Angela and Apogee or that the pair escaped using the Lombax secret. On Insomniac Games' Full Moon Show, the developers discussed the character's appearance, and stated that they believed this would clear up constant fan questions about the matter. They hinted that the issue was now closed and would not be addressed again, but refused to completely rule out a return for Angela in future games.
