Underground 2 is plain fun but is also mediocre.
Gameplay: Underground 2 follows the storyline of the amazing game Need For Speed Underground. I was impressed by the amount of customization that Underground 2 has, you can add so much more to your car like hydraulics, neon under the car, in the trunk and in the engine aswell, Spinners, audio speakers etc... the list goes on. The way you can customize your car in Need For Speed Underground 2 is unique and no other game can be compared to this one.The core game play consists of a total of 223 races in the game although you can beat the career with only completing under 150 races to get to the last boss race. There is a lot of different types of races in the game Circuit,Sprint,Drag,Drift,Street X,SUV, and U.R.L I have completed every race in the hole game and my percentage only stayed at 99% and it says I've completed 220 so I wasn't able to get that last 1% I don't know why it's like that. At your disposal there is over 20+ licensed cars and most of them are generally good performance wise when upgraded. I found that Underground 2 is quite repetitive even though the races are quite enjoyable I find that 223 races is a little too much considering Underground 1 had 111 races plus the bonus race so 112 in total. The lenght of the first Underground game seemed more convenient because of the low amount of tracks that you see over and over again. Sometimes will playing underground 2 my eyes would close as I'm falling asleep. The repetition came a long because I knew the tracks by heart. Even though this game does have its lows I still consider this a game for anyone to play because its really enjoyable with how new this gameplay is.
Graphics: The graphics look generically fine, altough the PC and the Xbox version do look a lot better. PC first, Xbox Second, PS2 third and Gamecube fourth. The Playstation 2 Version has a really noticeably weak frame rate, most of the time in races my car would look as if its slowing down and compared to the other consoles I find the PS2 version the weakest for the frame rate unfortunately.
Sound: The music is good there's a lot of variety from genre. The cars don't really have a sound that we want to hear, most of the cars sound similar when tuned with high performance parts and I wish the sounds were more unique from one another.
Overall: Underground 2 is a very neat upgrade to its predecessor but it still lacks here and there with its technical issues. I find that the game is a little to long and repetitive for how many hours it takes to beat the complete career, but I do recommend any racing game fans to try this one out.
