I had planned on pre-ordering one... but then I got to thinking.
I had both PS3 and 360 last gen. This gen I went with XBOX One, because I prefer the first party titles. I am at a point where the graph lines for "time available to play games" and "money available to buy games" have swapped places. I have more financial ability, then time. On one hand I think I should just get a PS4 and get in on some of the great games I have been missing, especially because it seems that Sony is once again the only place to play a lot of cool Japanese games, like in the PS2 era. However, I barely have enough time to play as it is, another console seems wasteful.
So then I think, why not just get the "best" version of the console I already have games for? I also don't have a 4K HDR TV, though. So now I tell myself, well get one of those too. Now we are talking about money that starts to make a dent, and really, just so HALO looks a little better and loads faster? I don't know. I think part of Microsoft's strategy, other than to over-correct the mis-cues of the launch, is to offer another way for XBOX fans to sink more money into the platform instead of buying a PS4. Nothing wrong with that, good business.
I already bought an XBOX One S. I may buy an X, but it'll probably only be a part of a larger home entertainment upgrade.
