I wonder if Tekken 7 included all the older endings as an apology.

A bummer finale to Tekken. They really used all their resources with 7 on the mostly forgettable story mode. Also why does not every character even get an "ending"?

for as much talk as there was in goty discussions about tekken 7 i'm surprised at how weak the character endings were with this one . guess it was just the story mode that was crazy .ahh well it was a good run while they lasted .

Unfortunately, as much as those early Tekken endings rule, things really go downhill.

Tekken 7 had these short character stories that were a couple fights, with text and stuff that give context for the endings. Then the story mode that was no Mortal Kombat.

Great game, and when I think of what 8 could possibly improve, it's to bring in new writers that were possibly those FMV kids.

Now, time to watch that Netflix show.

Those Tekken 7 endings were absolutely dire. Odd that Tekken Tag 2 had the inverse problem that Tag 1 one had. Instead of being short and insubstantial, they were excruciatingly long and plot heavy at times. At least we close the series on a fitting end, Ganryu's ass.

I was expecting the later games to have less FMV kids but man Bandai really phoned in Tekken 7.

I sympathize with Jess´s pained look into the camera everytime someone says Kazooya. I totally feel that.

Did Heihachi not have an ending in Tekken 7? Could've sworn there was something with him and Akuma in it...

Tekken 7's story mode is fucking awesome when it focuses on Kazuya and Heihachi's rivalry and Akuma's promise to Kazumi to hunt the two of them down and kill them. When Tekken 7 is doing anything else, it's all weak sauce.

Jess said it best: The better the graphics get the worse the endings are. Really they could have stopped at 3 or 4.

ENTER THE TEKKEN

Tekken 7 is the best-playing it's been in a while. It's always been a solid competitive game, but there's a reason Tekken 7 has lasted as long as it has and now still actively rivals Street Fighter and Smash as the most-watched game at the major tournaments like EVO.

The story mode in Tekken 7 is cool - it winds around the entire story of the Mishima and Kazama family, retelling basically the entire events of the whole series to date with additional details and sequences that let you play out moments from Tekken history that were previously only shown in cutscenes. THat said, it's framed by a narrator who is immensely boring to listen to, which really holds it back from being something truly special.

Heck, Tekken 7 even takes out some of the most popular "casual" modes like Team Battle (some of my friends still hold that against the game to the point where we play 6 or Tag 2 when we get together locally). It should speak to just how strong the gameplay is that despite all Tekken 7's flaws it's still the first game in the series I would elevate to the level of Tekken 3 (a game absolutely packed to the brim with bonus features) - and that really does come down to just how good it feels.

I forget when it was mentioned last week, but ranking the Twisted Metal endings would be a good follow-up to this. It might be boring in the first game, because I think those were just static screens full of text. There’s really nothing like the Tekken series, 7’s endings be damned.

If they ever do tis for another series they have to be more logical about the process.
Each game gets a Top 5 videos that are then ranked as a THAT GAME'S Top 5.

Each Top 5 is then brought together to come together to be used to make a FINAL RANKED list of 20. They must compare each games Top 5 at the very end. To start the top 20 they place all the #1 in the first eight spots (8 games means eight spots) then do that with all the #2, 3, 4. (all #5 are held back to the very end. When all videos are re-watched and ranked. ONLY at the end do the #5 from each small list get a chance to take something off the list.

It's a shame how fast this became "is this ending as good as this arbitrary cutoff. I think choosing the best of each game and pitting them against each other would have been a lot more fun.

You could do some interesting stuff with Twisted Metal 1's endings because they actually did film a few of them. They were included as a bonus feature as part of the Twisted Metal: Head On port for Ps2. I just remember the 989 ones being godawful but how could you miss out on the glory that is Club Kid, everyone's favorite driver.
