I would really like to play this but there are way too many other good looking games coming out over the next month as well.

This does not look like it's for me.

i really wonted this game today but no store had it.  :(  
But i did pick up a pc version. just really wont a 360 version also

Looks cool. But Codemasters rep outside of racing games is pretty bad.

I really WANT to be excited about this game, but I'm not. Gonna have to wait for some reviews to come out first, I think.

i just played the first mission and was bored to tears... definitely not my game. my first objective? WALK 2 KM to blow something up...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The game has received pretty good reviews so far.  IGN UK gave it a 8.1 and most of their gripes seemed pretty minor.  I'll be picking up this game, I just don't know whether to get it now or save it for Christmas.

Looks like an enhanced Project Reality! =D

So, it's basically ArmA II with good production values? Sounds good to me.
 
It's also a nice break from CoD's arcadey gameplay.

I've been watching some of the live feeds and it's clear the game is a mess.
 
It's in no way even close to Arma2 which can be considered a mil-sim. In fact, Dragon Rising is so bad it barely makes it into the tactical shooter genre. There is almost zero recoil in all the weapons; the helo physics are not even as realistic as an arcade game like BF:BC, the team ai is atrocious, the driving physics are even worse, a 40 tonne tank will fly 10 feet backward after hitting a little rock or tree, the island is completely barren of life and variety, the pop-in and poor textures are always on display... and on and on.
 
This is a game they released for PC with no dedicated server files and MP player caps for both PC and console that are just ludicrous in this day and age. Not to mention all the hype about an enormous island that takes hours to cross only you are restricted to a small box for every mission as well as MP. Launching with only 2 MP modes and 4 maps is also very poor.
 
It's obvious this game was pushed out the door early to satisfy shareholders or just to recoup costs as much as possible. That is why they cancelled the prerelease demo and had the review embargo right up to the release date. It's clearly an arcade game and that puts it in direct competition with MW2 which I'm sure the publisher was well aware of. So hype the game to be something it's not, hide as much truth as you can, and push it out the door before MW2 hits.

  This game continues to impress, but I will wait for reviews.

I did like COD4, but this looks like Generic Army Shooter 3 to me. It isn't exactly fair of me to say because I haven't played the games, but thats the impression I get from the trailers and whatnot.  "

This excites me. Hopefully it turns out better than ArmA II did. o_O

Why would he love this game if he likes cod4? This game is so different. This game is all about realisme and cod4 is more of a arcadey shooter. This is so paced and tactical and cod4 is fastpaced and not so tactical but it can be. "

Its not a shooter, its a war-sim.  Those that understand this and like me appreciate the difference, will love it. "

Im going to buy it and yes its not for everyone. Dont like it? Then STFU and buy another game. Easy.

What's realistic about firing a gun with no recoil?  What's realistic about 40 tonne tanks being knocked back 10 feet by trees?  BF:BC is more realistic than this game and BF:BC makes no pretensions of realism. It's an arcade shooter and proud. "

From what I've read it sounds like an arcade shooter with sim elements, and that's good because I didn't like ArmA2 at all, too realistic for me.

looks pretty good, idk if it's my kind of game though.  
it looks like this is one of the games that should probably be only on PC but is on consoles too.

Can we get a QL up in this piece?
 
@senrat: You do realize Arma II is also on consoles, right?

" Arma 2 is the ULTIMATE simulation of military operations.  A modified Arma 2 is probably going to be sold to the miltary as a training tool.  Of course Arma 2 system requirements are very high. It requires a 50+ frames per second to even be playable.  This is for the person who doesnt have an amazing computer, who only has a console but still wants a decently accurate shooter.  This game isnt even trying to be as realistic as Arma 2, if was then it wouldnt be possible on consoles.  Ive read a review of the game, and problems like not being able to close doors and bodies that dissapear after 30 seconds are huge annoyances.
