@monkeyking1969: I don't think they list many of the components explictly, but they already had a GTX1080 in this machine and said they're keeping it, and from the looks of those boxes they're putting in an i5 7600K.

The mother board was a Gigabyte GA-Z270X-UD3 ATX, which is a fine choice for their needs. I have read some reviews on Newegg that might make me think twice unless I had a really tight case Its not broken or bad...just an odd fit for some ATX cases.

God I love seeing the PC elitist comments here. Makes my choice to stick with consoles that much easier.

@ultimaxe: Anybody who says building a PC is a quick job, or that it's a matter of just snapping things into place, is straight-up lying to make building a PC seem more attractive to the average person. That may be the case with veterans of the hobby or paid professionals (and even then there are hiccups), but this is absolutely not a fun beginner's project. The fumbling and anxiety alone adds a few hours.

Argh everytime i watch someone build a pc it makes me wanna build another!!! And mine is around 4+ years old so its about time....sadly though my parts are "so old" I will need to do a whole rebuild (motherboard/cpu/ram).

Also I use the same cooler and had to watch a video to figure it out, works like a charm just needs a lot of case space to fit nicely.

Just started the watching, but I had to chuckle at seeing the 4 hour video length. People always say that PC building should take like an hour, max. The two that I've built became 24 hour nightmares. I guess that that projected time comes from knowing precisely what you're doing. Having to chase down answers on the internet for weird roadblocks along the way, or because you're super paranoid, will slow you down an awful lot.

It's something that I would like to get better at and more familiar with.

Unless you've done it a lot, I reckon 3-4 hours is pretty normal if you're cautious with it (which you probably should be considering how much money you likely spent)

The normal person would only really build a completely new PC every 4-5 years; so if you're like me, you forget everything and have to re-learn it again. (and it changes quite a lot)

I've installed that CPU heatsink and fan 3-4 times in the past few years. Each time was a bitch. Why won't they make it easier to install? It's good otherwise. But I'll look for something less hair pulling for my next computer. >_>

Super excited that they got this done, I hope this means there's more hosting for Murder Island on the West coast! I have a feeling the reason they stopped hosting it on their side was because they knew it was stuttery.

The first dumb thing I've ever heard Jeff say. The old man Lego meme is real real dumb and endlessly dull to hear about, hes not even old enough to be from a time before they predominantly sold sets containing instructions for a specific model. They still sell the buckets of bricks just like they did when he was a kid, but space/pirate/castle/city sets etc were already the main thing on sale back in the 70s.

If its not for you thats fine just stop with the meme, its like having the video games conversation with someone whos never played over and over.

The Lego con scene is all about the fan-built models

I also have the same cpu cooler and it does it's job really well, but that X-shaped bracket is not the most intuitive way to install a cpu fan.

lol, well you either want a PC or you don't. I read all the comments and there's nothing here I would deem as "elitist". Its people debating and discussing their own methods of pc building on a video about pc building, no fanboys or elites saying consoles suck or spouting master race bs. Most people here don't really hold the opinions of elitist/fanboys in high regard and I certainly don't let that stuff affect my purchasing decisions.

The only thing that can be tricky when it comes to building a pc is the heatsink installation and sometimes cable management. Everything else is a breeze as long as you read the mobo and case instructions before hand, so it really shouldn't take too long. I always recommend a budget build for first timers and advice against complicated 3rd party heat sinks or liquid cooling kits. Stock coolers are easy to install and only take a few minutes. My cousin who's in 8th grade build his first pc a month ago it took him less than 2 hours. Not bad for a first time builder, he said he just found a really good tutorial vid on youtube and followed that.
