E3 2016: Build Your Own Xbox One Controller

Coming to the UK in 2017, i tried to make a Sonic the Hedgehog themed controller but i'll have to wait :(.

So these controllers cost $80 CDN each. Does that include shipping? Because if so, that's a probably a $30 markup. Yikes.

EDIT: Oh, they're only available to folks in the US, so these guys cost $80 US each. And I can't enter in my shipping info, since I don't have a valid US address. It's a damn neat idea, but if I'm going to be spending $100 or more on a controller, I might as well get an Elite.

Considering how much it costs to get a controller with customized colors, if you are so inclined, this is actually a pretty fair price. Going through the secondary market can cost as much as double the asking price here, or the price of just buying a plain elite controller. It's for a very specific audience, and I'm actually probably going to get one. I have an XBox 360 controller that my husband made me (he purchased the shell, sticks and buttons online) in pink metallic and chrome, and there is something really cool about having a controller that is all your own. But, like I said, it's for a very specific market that wants that.

It's cool that this exists. I do wonder if they'll let you etch anything you want (within the character limit). I sent off for a free personalised spoon from Kellog's last year, and they wouldn't let me put rude words on it. "Poophead" got past the first step, but later I got an email commanding me to change it. Eventually I tricked them into printing "Tanuki" on it, which was the name of my company. Small victories.

I want you to be able to put "Playstation 4 Life" or something on there.

It's going to be hard not to just buy one that has "Playstation" engraved into it.

I would be far more interested if I could chose different materials and styles like some 3rd party sites offer.

This is neat, but the only two greens they have are that neon green and a hideous looking military green... kind of a bummer. A custom controller for 80 bucks (90 if you want something written on it with laser etching) is not bad. Considering how rarely I actually look at my controller though, probably not worth it.

I'd be interested if you could swap the left stick and the D-Pad
