The old band animations in RB1 and RB2 have more spirit to them than the current stuff in RB4. You put those bits in with the new stuff (but especially the fidelity of the new game) and the game would look so damn brilliant.

Man, I miss Rock Band 2 (and 3's) library menu. Just looks a lot sleeker.

@allthedinos: Super bummed too, because I really liked Lostprophets. But the day I heard that news about the lead singer, I deleted all their music off my computer and have never purposefully listened to them again. I vaguely remember reading at the time that some of the other band members formed bands, so I might check that out someday.

Damn, that Lesley Roy track is a blast from the past. Killer chorus too!

If I remember correctly, up until the week Moving Pictures was supposed to come out, it was pretty trivial to rip the multitrack files from RB DLC and then suddenly Moving Pictures was delayed a week and when it came out it and all DLC moving forward had encrypted audio files. Of course that could just be a coincidence, but something tells me someone somewhere discovered the multitracks out there on the web and wasn't happy.

Pick Me Up is one of my absolute favourite songs to play on guitar. The Little Fish singer commented on my youtube videos for the pack that I put up the week they came out, she was very cool. The Silverchair song is the only one on the entire setlist I don't also own, I have spent way too much money on Rock Band.

@corporalgregg: I didn't know that about the encryption. Moving Pictures RB stems still got online fairly quickly after that though. I vividly remember that week and the chaos on the forums when Lockley came out after Moving Pictures had been teased for weeks. There's a part of me that misses the RB and Score Hero forum drama. Simpler times hehe

I remember "Am I Crazy?" by Little Fish to be really fun on drums. IIRC, that song was free with the other songs paid?

I'm happy to hear the story as to why Cool for Cats is in RB2. I grew to love the song for it's charm and quirkiness, but I thought it was exceptionally weird that this would be the Squeeze song included on the game when they apparently had the license to put out Tempted, which is a far more popular song, as DLC. Dan Teasdale is a legend.

The lyrics are slightly censored in the music video version of Electric Six - Gay Bar. For some reason the war nuclear is censored with a whip sound. Not sure why that word in perticular annoyed some censor. I find it nice that they didn't mind "gay bar" but censoring only the word "nuclear" in "nuclear war" but NOT the word "war".

So did Rock Band 4 abandon the "As Made Famous by" label? you just have to know which ones are covers?

@alex Any deal with "Hier Kommt Alex"? It was originally released alongside the European release of RB1 and was exportable to RB2 and available as DLC to everyone else, yet it then disappeared.

@omgfather: several of the Euro tracks have disappeared over the years (two of the Tokio Hotel tracks, H-Blockx, Wir sind Helden). my guess is just licensing expired and it became more hassle than it was worth to renew. weird that almost all of those expired tracks were German bands. wonder if licensing through German labels is uniquely weird or something.

@alex Some of the Non Metallica songs on GH:Metallica are there as they were the covers that Metallica have done over the years most of them on their Garage Inc album, the rest of the bands i don't know the reason for maybe just band they respect the most.

Wow, those 'free form fills' on rock band 1 sound terrible. They really couldn't use the sample from the same song at the same volume huh?
