@dussck: He mentions in the video, that he usually plays with surround sound, but when recording, the setup only allows him to got the sound from speakers in one direction.

I'm glad Jeff is enjoying it, but I personally can't get behind this game. 60 bucks for an incomplete COD experience is a ripoff to me. And a hybrid clone of battlegrounds and rainbow six siege, called Blackout, isn't enough for me. Glad many user reviews at Metacritic is blowing this game up and rejecting the "official" reviews.

@fisk0: Maybe it doesn’t translate well into video or maybe PC just looks better than PS4 but I think the game looks quite good. Not only that but it’s the most well optimized version they’ve had in years. It’s running better for me than Black Ops 3 on the same hardware and it certainly looks better. I think Blackout really made them have to work hard on the engine.

Parts of it could definitely be compression, and I never played Black Ops III, so I can't speak for that. I did play Black Ops 2 though, which at this point is 6 years old, and there was one area in the Blackout mode I recognized from a BO2 map, and I'd say I prefer the lighting in in the older game.

I don't know, the environments in both the blackout map and the smaller TDM maps all looked kinda blocky to me, and the lighting just felt really flat.

Now of course, this Blackout screenshot is really compressed, while the Black Ops II screenshot is very high res from the PC version, so the latter will naturally look more detailed, but even as Jeff ran around in that area I found it kinda drab looking ... but still, Black Ops II was a PS3/Wii U era game and Jeff was playing Black Ops IIII on a PS4 Pro, I'd kinda expect a noticeable visual improvement:

@fisk0: The shadows and ambient occlusion in the second shot look quite a bit worse than the first. The lighting is completely different but definitely has that flatter look you get from older shadow and AO rendering techniques. And once again I think the video isn’t a great representation of the game, especially when you’re comparing it to your memory of the completely uncompressed, raw game which also happens to be on PC so looked way better than a PS3/360 game anyways. I’ve seen it with my own eyes and it looks great.

Also consider that you’re comparing Blackout to regular Multiplayer maps, BO2 had nothing like that and it’s not at all a 1 to 1 comparison. I’m willing to bet that there’s less density of “stuff” and special effects in the blackout map, since the game is rendering such a gigantic area, much bigger than any regular multiplayer map by many orders of magnitude.

I love using the helicopter while solo. I usually try to jump to helicopter locations, so I can grab it and fly to out of reach spots with good gear. I also like flying around trolling other players making them waste bullets and reveal their locations to other players.
