Quick Look: Speaking Simulator

Also, methanol is also an alcohol, and you definitely shouldn't drink that one. That's the stuff that makes you blind. No one should really drink alcohol at all seeing as it is essentially an industrial solvent.. And no one should use the vaporizer style alcohol thing that Jeff and co were talking about earlier this week. That is literally the same as huffing paint thinner. Works the same, does the same.

When I saw the thumbnail, I thought this was going to be an actual simulator, like with fricatives and plosives and stuff. That would have been cool.

I can't remember the last time watching a game made me feel this uncomfortable. Looks very not fun to play.

Seems like the kinda game that's zany, hilarious fun in concept but kinda tedious in execution.

@wollywoo: Yeah these type of games are so hard to nail. Goat Simulator (as played out as that game is at this point) is one of the few that nails the wacky / odd controls but still fun. Surgeon Simulator was ok. I am Bread is still in my mind the absolute worst of these type of games though.

This entire quick look gave me serious "Streamer bait" vibes.

Yikes. As someone who had a bad stammer as a child, this was really hard to watch.

Hmm the idea seems neat but it seems to fail in practice. A lot of this seems kinda boring when it should be fun. Like the failure state is really boring! I was expecting some wacky thing where your head explodes into parts or something but it just faded to black and said you lost. Kinda lame.

This game is just boring

This game makes me think of Octodad. A game that I think did a much better job at the "not a human pretending to be a human, and nobody seems to notice" goof.

Oh no... Oh good god, no. The talking is so grating. This definitely doesn't fall in the so bad it's good simulator category like Goat Simulator. This just seems boring and slow. Like someone else said: kill it with fire!

I saw this on Steam and it looked interesting, but I was hoping it was more dynamic with phonemes and such, like a Vocaloid-esque system. (granted, it would make this downright impossible, but at least it would make it more humorous than just speaking pre-recorded phrases painfully slow)

Also, the "HELLO FELLOW HUMAN" thing is veeery played out at this point, so all you've really got left of note is a "making silly faces simulator", and that's maybe five minutes of amusement.

"Sorry, but you are now alive" is a great line, though. So props for that.

That halting speech is pure torture. They should have done something like render the gameplay in slow motion and then replayed the dialogue at normal speed with the errors and pauses included.

Fun quick look but yeah, it seems like an idea that didn't make it all the way to the execution finish line.

Kind of funny seeing everyone nit picking the game like its a $60 game or something, I mean its $15 on steam, and I find the humor rather ............well..........tongue and cheek (sorry, had to!!!)

This is the kind of silly idea that i can get behind on paper, but seeing it play out, i don't care for the execution. It's pretty damning that this comedic game is not funny enough for them to laugh at past the first 5 minutes, and they have to entertain themselves mostly with dentist stories while going through the motions.

The game acts like you're trying to behave like a normal human, but instead you're just heavy-raining your way through the sentences hoping that you won't fuck up too much. And if you do, you just die. There's no 'getting figured out', it's just a life meter. There's nothing fun about fucking up. Like i still have fun memories about messing up with Parappa and saying Sweep The Floor, Floor the Sweep! This doesn't have that :( Abby was right, if you make mistakes you should say some crazy shit and your conversation partner should react to that fuck up. Also that upgrade mechanic seems to be quite poorly thought out. Why give people the impression of choice when the levels are pre-arranged and you will not be able to use certain abilities at all until you reach the level where it can be used?

However, i could see this being a fun & impressive 1 man speedrun.

As a linguistics major who studies how our mouths move to produce sounds among other things this is... interesting!

I wouldn't pay a dollar for this game. It's not nothing to do with price. It just doesn't look fun and the writing isn't good.
