This looked surprisingly competent on that last stream, I don't know if I'd stump for the models but that does seem to be missing the point of a TtL game.

I have a dilemma: I want this for Switch because of the Star Fox content, but I won't buy physical media for the Switch. So I guess I'm not getting the toys, then. Which is a bit of a bummer because that Arwing looks great

Game seems kind of interesting, i don't care abou toy aspect my self. But the thing i keep hearing is that the first planet is where you have all the fun, because once you move on you pretty much do the same things all over again.

StarLynx (a smarter, better-adapted-for-cold-weather StarFox)

The Legend of Zelda: StarLink-to-the-Past

So many missed opportunities...(two, I guess.)

I'm a few hours in and I've been enjoying it. The side missions are getting repetitive but they're usually short.

It still blows my mind that Brad's mind is blown by Starfox talking.

Star Fox 64 > Star Fox SNES

64 voiced Star Fox characters > SNES babble talk

Just the facts.

Well, not exactly, because the original StarFox was on the SNES (and is Brad's point of reference), and the "voices" were in an alien language. Star Fox64 was the first instance of actual English-speaking StarAnimal people (and, as an aside, left me shocked and horrified how Slippy Toad's cheerful "Blip blip blop" turned into "whiny 6-year-old-kid").

The Switch starter does indeed come with Mason, his ship, and an additional Kinetic weapon- so you have two ships, two pilots, and three weapons w/this version. The trick is the pilot, ship, and weapon can only be used when playing in digital mode (without the Joy con adapter).

I’ve been enjoying this game quite a bit on Switch.

No. The original Starfox literally has English voice acting.

@mstankow: Oh right, I had forgotten about that. Still, two to three lines of robo-English compared to several hours of "Yada baba, ba-da" doesn't really qualify as "English Dialogue", to me. :b

Starfox is such a cool looking character. I would really be open to another 'Starfox Adventures' 3rd person action game (with dogfighting of course).

@chrisflavin: Isn't that just Star Fox Assault? I agree, though, there's plenty of potential in the series, if Nintendo could just stop trying to squeeze pointless gimmicks into everything.

One question i can't find an answer anywhere on the web, and cartain;y o on this video: Is there an option where if I buy the Physical copy, I can upgrade digitally with all the ships, crew, etc? Or am I stuck either buying the game digitally if I want everything, or buy all the physical toys / DLC peace meals separably?

@faridmon: You can buy the digital unlocks of the ships/weapons/pilots for use w/ the physical edition of the game

edit: You do have to play in “digital mode” to use your digital parts, but when you connect a physical toy to the game it also unlocks use of those parts in digital mode for the next 5 days (you just need to re-connect the toy to refresh the timer)

Just a quick correction: Jeff is wrong about not getting extra ships with the digital version. I bought the digital and you definitely still get a bunch of extra ships and weapons. And the Star Fox stuff as well.

And I only bought the base digital version.

It has been totally fine. I've felt no need to buy anything extra. Enjoying it quite a bit.

@wulfbane: is there a one time digital bundle for the rest of the dlc? My intention was to buy the physical copy and buy the rest of the entire dlc as digital.

They should have put out a version that doesn't come with the toys or the digital content, seems like it would be a more pure experience.

@faridmon: Yes, you buy a $60 “Collection 1 pack” that has the digital versions of the rest of the ships, pilots, & weapons except for the two retail specific ships (which are just alternate paint jobs of two existing ships that are also another way to get two of the pilots).

Piece meal, the digital DLC store offers $13 for each of the 4 ship packs (1 ship, 1 pilot, 1 weapon), $4 for each extra pilot (4 different pilots), and $5 for each of the weapon packs (2 per pack, 4 total packs). These all mirror the physical offerings but at least in the case of the ships, the digital only is cheaper (physical ship packs are $25 each). I believe the physical pilot & weapon packs were $5 each, I forget.

It's like if StarFox, No Man's Sky and Destiny got together for a Devil's Triangle...which, as I understand it, is apparently some sort of drinking game.

I unexpectedly find myself very interested in buying this game; and while I buy almost all console games physcally I'm wanting to go digital on this one for convenience's sake (and not wanting a box of spaceship toys).

Brad and Jeff talked about the meteoric rise and fall of toys to life. Why did they fall? The only one I ever got into was Lego Dimensions, but I have had a great time with it, kept buying it, and was sad when they discontinued it. Anyone here know why the genre crashed?
