Lots to compare to tower of guns here, but a funny thing about this game is that on PC the executable is just straight up called "TowerOfGuns2.exe".

Well it is a spiritual successor to Tower of Guns, and it even started out as a direct sequel. Obviously they went in a different direction with it though in the end. But man those giant bullet firing turrets are like straight outta Tower of Guns no? :D

I believe the Ziggurat devs are indeed working on a sequel (along with another game I believe) and yes, Ziggurat 2 will have coop apparently :)

Yeah, really wish it had more interesting enemy behaviors, like Tower of Guns it's all just static turrets and enemies moving right towards you (either on the ground like those dog rat robot things, or flying like the blades). Ziggurat had a lot more interesting enemy types, and even if the game were to stick with these platforming focused arenas, there could be a lot more interesting varieties of flying enemies.

could be a good "got a short amount of time to kill, might as well play this a bit and see what loot drops" sort of game (like diablo or destiny)

Oh and since Brad didn't mention it in the QL, online coop is coming in an August patch. That's why there are always 2 workbenches in the shops etc. (I think it'll also be offline couch coop as well but don't quote me on the August part for that one)

This could be a pretty awesome game if those procedurally generated "dungeons" were themed and gave scaling ability rewards, as part of a bigger open world the player has to explore/unlock in a metrovania way.

Imho that's the way forward with procedurally generated content of any kind, it will never be able to stand on its own, but if it's put in just the right place, between hand-created content, it can serve as a hassle-free way to add a lot of replayability.

Tower of Guns was a Tower of Fun, so I'm all over this. Shame that most of the enemies seem to be the same as in ToG, though.

Edit: Okay, yep, just played up to the point where the QL ended, and it's really fun. Had a hell of a run through that mission, too, I was just a pure DPS machine, haha.

I played a little bit of Tower of Guns when it first came out, but was honestly kind of underwhelmed by it. That being said, I still might give this a shot at some point, it looks like this game has a little more going for it.

Hol' up. The hook is building big ridiculous guns and they don't spend like 5 minutes strapping as many guns to as many connectors as possible just for shits and giggles? Disappointed.

It does, it just that they are very early on in the game. It really doesn't show that much. But that is the curse of "Quicklook" and played just an hour or two and it doesn't really showcase that well of most games.

It really makes it look same and repetitive but there are different themes and more interesting enemies.

I think this game is kinda ugly. It's like you're in the Danger Zone test facility, but with a lot more neon shit.

I picked this up after the QL because the weapon building seemed cool. IT IS. Oh man, tetris-ing the parts together to build absurd stuff is super fun.

@please_love_me: front to back, I really liked ROF might be one of my favorite jrpg mechanics. It really highlights tri-ace as a company that tries different things. unfortunately it's combat was too experimental for people. I've seen so many quick looks of the game where people didn't know what to do, I think that snowballed into people thinking it's too obscure or unnecessarily complicated

I was a little bit concerned at how similar this looks to ToG, but turns out the executable for this game is literally called "TowerOfGuns2.exe", so it feels a little less weird knowing it was explicitly developed as a sequel to the first game.

From what I've played of this, I'm not really digging it. It's a rad idea that seems poorly executed. It lacks the sense of progression you'd probably want out of it. It never feels like you're building a cool gun and making it better over time, because you start nearly from scratch with only a few parts on each mission, and then by the time you actually have something interesting, the mission is over and you have to start again.
