@fetterdave: Yeah, famously no-one at Giant Bomb has ever slagged off otherwise beloved games before this current era.

@thaquoth: My point was that I seem to recall that Rez was beloved by a good portion of previous members of the Giant Bomb staff, especially Gerstmann.

Both Dan and Grubb were saying teh SOCOAM voice control didn't work, but they always worked for me. I one of those weirdos that would play the single player SOCIM 1 & 2, and it always worked for me. This is not rose tinted glasses because I played the game, single player a lot.

SOCOM would never works as a game now, nor does it have to work - there are other games. But, for that sort of tactical, slow paced, thinking gameplay - there was nothing better. The first two games were awesome games, but they were of a time. However, they did work and that voice input was great.

Maybe, when all thus AI interruption codec is "free to use", more games will use voice recognition? But I doubt it. That biggest down fall of voice being used more in games is talk outloud to devices. in 2002 you could say "BRAVO, TEALTN TO "CROSSHAIRS", and only the game would listen. Now your Google Home Alexa or SIri would say, "What did you say?" Moreover your spouse would say, "Will you please STFU while the baby is sleeping"; so you turn off the game to mope.

Mushroomhead really summoned Paul Ryckert in both Dan and Jeff.

In May 2002, I was working at a grocery store as an overnight stocker. Some high school acquaintances gesticulate outside a window to get me to ditch work and celebrate my 21st birthday. I ignore their pleas because I don't consider my birthday an important enough reason to ask for time off. That morning, immediately after work, I make my first legal alcohol purchase: a six-pack of Mike's Hard Lemonade.

Now, 21 years later, I'm taking off on my birthday to play more Tears of the Kingdom.

I fucking loved Drakan back in the day. It probably was the first real action-rpg thingy i played. Being able to equip weapons enemies drop felt very new back then. And being able to fly around on the back of a dragon was cool.

Dark Alliance was also very fun.

Why do people get so mad about literally nothing. To each their own. <5
