Mass Alex: Mass Effect - Part 02

Mass Effect 3 is not that bad. Admit it.

What people mostly get hung up on (including me) is that it was promised to have vastly different stories and endings. After that expectation, the ending was very underwhelming.

The game before that ending was pretty good I thought.

I'm so glad they are taking the time to really delve into the conversations and background info stuff. It's easily my favourite part of ME.

I hope they don't miss Conrad in the Wards market.....

One of my favourite series, now already one of my favourite video series. Seems to be inspiring @alex too as he's been hilarious in both episodes.

Guys, feel free to play all three, plus DLC, then start over again with @vinny at the helm. I could watch this a lot.

To be honest, I completely forgot he was even a thing in the game before you mentioned his name.

I had forgotten just how great the first Mass Effect was. I am so pumped to watch this every week.

I hope they switch to two episodes a week. This is so good.

@sinreaver: I kind of just let Virmire play out naturally. I always thought sending Kaidan to arm the bomb made more sense since he is more tech-savy (electronics perk). Kaidan then says he's detonating the bomb early as enemies swarm (even saying "it's done"). I take that as the matter of the bomb is settled, and choose to go retrieve the strike team (saving Salarians I assumed would be better for diplomacy). I actually feel very neutral towards both Ashley and Kaidan, but as things play out, Ashley lives in my playthrough.

Yeah, just one video per week is killing me too.

Ashley continues being the worst.

This is great. I tried to get my daughters to play this or Dragon Age, but they nerd out in their own ways. I really wanted to watch a playthrough.

My issue with ME3 was purely on the ending. The last 30 or so minutes of that game, after Shepard walks away from the injured Anderson into the light, essentially everything with the star-child/ending choices) ..my issue was that it felt like someone else wrote the section.

It was like I was watching the ending to a story I had not been telling/earning/playing through/choosing on my own up until that point. The game feels like it throws the message it was trying to send out the window in those final minutes, and the main character remains mute about the entire thing while it does so. In detail..

Maybe my issues with it get covered in the Citadel DLC, I never touched it or watched it. I was so anger about the mess of an ending I couldn't bring myself to go back too it given how it made everything I had worked to proof/earn utterly pointless

The only solace I had was that in the update they made most game where the expanded the ending some what, They add the IMO only actual possible Canon ending to the game, where Shepard tells the star-child he is full of shit by shooting him in the face. That's the only ending that feels like it at all fits the story the game tells up until that point to me.

The citadel is one of the few gaming moments where I feel like I was actually in a city. Such great detail and all brought to life with good VA and writing. Also, really loving this series already.

I always went for the default Shepard, so Alex's choice was a little iffy at first but it's grown on me. 30 something no nonsense Shepard is a good pick!

Yes! The first time he chooses Ashley over Kaiden, the more interesting character and the better choice!

Garrus is just the best. He starts so strong and only gets better.

I played ME1 in maybe 2010 or so but I don't remember much of it. Never got round to ME2

Really enjoying this series, if anything Alex's playthough will be a good enough substitute for me not playing it!

Completely shot down Alexy Quest on Beastcast, which I understand. But still wish this was Alex Effect. Alex and Mash Effect mash up that still sounds like it has it's own meaning. Alex's Effect on the Mass Effect universe.

Honestly, if this is the second part of a series, there will be a Mass Effect Battle Royale with ONLY lore this Christmas. How could the publisher ignore such a money opportunity?

I can`t speak for others, but I despised Kai Leng. He is such a lame edgelord, but the game thinks he is super cool and wants you to view him as a serious threat.

The ending of the game is terrible and seems to be the thing people remember and talk about, but I think the main story of that game also had some other writing problems like Kai Leng and the dream sequences.

That said there was also some really great writing in that game and it was fun to play and I did really like it a lot.

If you like Mass Effect at all you should really check out the Citadel DLC. It`s absolutely fantastic and is a really great sendoff to the trilogy and the characters. It`s probably my favorite piece of Mass Effect content and every time I play it it leaves me with a huge smile on my face.

I always go Kaiden over Ashley. Kaiden might be whiny, annoying, and have a boring background, but at least he's not a space racist.

Fuck I love how the Reapers tentacleprints are all over the place but you never notice until you replay.

The Elcor are pretty chill but I'm definitely on team krogan as far as favorite ME species go.
