Here's my annotated Artorias ninjaflip strategy guide. (two fights)

You'd think I wouldn't have such a hard time with Gwyn after this. >_< But took me over 30 fights to get a strategy that worked for my St/Ft build.

I would definitely buy a "I majored in Dark Souls" shirt for the record. I think its time for the GB store to get a new t-shirt

Well, Rorie just wanted to help Vinny out! Also the chat is ALWAYS GIVING TIPS TO RORIE TO TELL VINNY.

Those people might as well be the same people who were giving Valve shit for not putting out Diretide. They were yelling over things that Matt/Ian had already told Vinny but it was just that Vinny decided to do his own thing and then chat decided to freak out at Rorie for ignoring them, not cool. I'm glad I saw Vinny's playstyle and not Vinny's interpretation of chat's playstyle.

fucking incredible live show, @vinny. you have way more perseverance to take on artorias with straight up rolling than i.

granted, i only died once with my eagle shield+10 tanky-poisey build, but it was just a bunch of unskillful trading hits. i only did it as fast as i did because i learned how to approach the fight by watching you guys gruel over it for over an hour and a half... so, damn.

Considering Vinny's style up until now, it was looking pretty likely that Artorias was going to be a major roadblock for him. Perseverance paid off though, and he's coming out of this bossfight a far better DarkSouls player than he was going in. Kickass.

Vinny did good, just needs to use a little more R1 and a little less R2, especially when using the Black Knight Halberd. Its R2 attack is useless.

I'm so glad that he managed to defeat Artorias the same round that he interrupted him at the last second, that whole final run was so hype!

Or the people in the Persona 4 Endurance Run comment thread that were screaming "tips" you'd only know if you read a walkthrough your first run.

Man Serpent Greatsword is actually a pretty great weapon. It's my favorite greatsword in the game.

That boss is also my favourite boss in this game. My favourite part of this DLC is all the characters that you get to meet that you only read about before. Those last 4-5 moves were the tuffest shit haha.

So I haven't watched this yet, but I just want to say that Artorias is my fav Boss in Dark Souls right now. I'm new to the game (this series reignited my desire to find out why everyone loves it so much). I like the game a lot more now than I did before.

Back to the boss. I like him because he doesn't rely on overpowered AoEs in order to win. I've only beaten him once and even I ended up having to call in two other players to help me. Which was both nice and irritating due to him being the only boss that forced me to call in help from the player base. The reason being that I have a kind of tankish style (I like to be able take or block a hit and then follow up with strike/strikes of my own), and of course lost every time due my inability to quickly roll away from him. On the bright side the I called in were pretty cool we just stood around introducing ourselves via emotes then worked together to beat Artorias.

Also as a Berserk fan I REALLY like how Artorias looked, moved, and behaved like Berserker Armor guts.

Love it.

That fucking battlecry at 1:43:10 tho.

I'll just get the negative stuff out of the way first. He definitely could've had that fight done much sooner, but he kept making careless mistakes. Rolling backwards, instead of to the side...insisting on stopping the power up when he was too far to pull it off, the jump attack, etc.

That being said him winning in the end was amazing. I was literally on the edge of my seat. Fantastic battle.

Managed to see this live and it really was Dark Souls. Loved Vinny's conviction to use light armour and dodge attacks.

Rorie, please continue to ignore 87% of anyone giving y'all shit midstream. They don't want what most of the rest of us want out of this stream. I, and most of us I hope, don't want to see the MOST PERFECTEST EVER DARK SOULS RUN EVAR. I want to see Vinny play Dark Souls, and everything that entails. Failures, deaths, mistakes, success, glory, and battle cries -- all of it.

Yeah, it was awesome that he won but his mistakes were killing him a lot. Having 20 flasks pretty much sealed his victory the moment he decided to just heal through all the damage. If he had 15 flasks I doubt he would've beaten him on this video.

Dark souls has a lot of Berserk in it, here's some more references. http://soulswiki.forumsrpg.com/t10856-berserk-references. Hidetaka Miyazaki is probably a Berserk fan like you.

There's more to be found like weapon designs etc but could not find it so easily.
