@bored_and_agitated: by his own account they were gamespot's until he decided he loved achievements and assumed ownership. And fondness is the opposite of what's at play: in this very episode he talked about wanting to expunge "gamespotting" from the database.

The games aren't lost and the account is still there; the grudge is over the name and its meaning. If there was no getting past it and those pre-08 psn exclusive games really were that important to him, he could've just taken the money from selling off that mint in box ~unreleased game he was sent for review and never touched (see: the raid (japan)) and populated the new account with them no problem.
