Look @danryckert and @jeff, I get what you're saying in the context of Nicolas Cage movies and his typical roles and such, but calling Nic Cage's role in Leaving Las Vegas "super crazy" is maybe super shitty considering said role is a semi-autobiographical role about dealing with manic-depression / bi-polar disorder.

You know, let alone the fact that the movie is based on a book, and the author of said book that Nic Cage is portraying actually commit suicide, shortly after finding out that his book was being turned into a movie - where apparently his book was intended to be his suicide note.

I just got to 29:00 and I'm having issues with audio skipping around a ton. Anyone else getting that? My download is 4 hours 30 minutes long so I think its a bad download.

Never mind my download was bad, lol.

Saw a bald guy with a beard and thought Vinny was on the podcast. Got really confused when I tabbed away and Vinny never began to talk. Took me longer to realize my mistake than I'm happy to admit.

Now that the room needs to be "lit", its gonna be like 50 times hotter in there.

I listen to my bombcast in the car, or while getting things done, so this feature really isn't for me, but its cool for whoever wants it though.

and Dan needs to grow his hair back

I'm not one of those people that hates on Dan, I generally find him to be charming. However, lately I'm beginning to really tire of his ignorance. Do some research Dan, for fuck's sake! Learn, read, you're an adult, nobody should have to tell you all this shit.

re sex games...

there was this game I played in high school or college (can't remember) where you were the man and you had to have sex with a woman before a timer ran out or you died. Presumably you were super horny.

BUT it was a whorehouse (I think) so you had to search for condoms before you had sex. Now you COULD have sex with the first girl you saw without the condom but you would run the risk of contracting an STD and dying (instantly).

So you had to play this constant balance between having enough condoms and not letting the timer run out before you had sex.

It wasn't an especially good game but as a horny older teen I found it somewhat irresistible despite the rather rudimentary graphics (we're talking Berzerk or maybe a little better (but not a lot)).

Sounds like some things never change when it comes to that stuff.

@danryckert Cane sugar is one form of sugar, and almost every form of sugar is bad, with only one exception I can think of (it's in Soylent). Corn syrup is just another bad sugar.

Corn is not a "vegetable" in the way that Dan is thinking, but actually a grain closer in nutritive content to wheat and rice, which can often be prepared in very unhealthy ways. Grains and starches provide high levels of carbohydrates and calories, but the ways they are used in industrial food production strip most of the actual nutritional part of the grain in order to prolong its shelf life and "improve taste."

The only reason that Native Americans were able to subsist on a corn-heavy diet was because of a preparation process called nixtamalization that unlocked key nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. For centuries, people in Europe and Africa who could only eat non-nixtamalized corn and little else died from malnutrition and deficiency diseases such as pellagra and kwashiorkor. In any case, corn does not count as a vegetable in the sense that parents and doctors mean when they say "Eat your vegetables." Those vegetables are usually dense with nutrients and have a low glycemic load.

Dan talking about food used to be really funny, but now that he has revealed he is pre-diabetic, it's becoming somewhat more worrisome and maybe he should really learn something about nutrition. Maybe NewDan 3.0 can be a health nut, that could be funny and save a life

thanks for the info. realistically though it's not something most people would have handily available or recall by memory. i assume you're somewhat of a nutritionist yourself? or just read up a lot on the subject?

always surprises me the memories quite a few people have especially around here and the way they can recall detailed encyclopedic knowledge on whatever. something i'm a bit jealous of i suppose.

i would rather keep this comment section free of discussions of dan's lifestyle choices and pointing out his (supposed) ignorance though. it never seems to go well. :)
