I think Alex's neighborhood laundromat got raided by Wario and Waluigi. Who else would go to those lengths to burgle an establishment that primarily deals in coin currency?

Boneworks rules. I dunno what's wrong with me but I have never had a nauseating VR experience despite having games that nauseate on flat-screen once in a very infrequent while. Should have been a fighter pilot or something. EIther way, Boneworks is fantastic and I am really sad it had that effect for Jeff, cause with index controllers and what that game does for 'putting you in the space' that game totally kicks ass and kinda earns them the kind of misplaced snobby reputation that people mistake for what I'd call 'fair warning', IMO.

They do the stuff that HL: Alyx decided not to do; their disclaimer about 'experienced vr users' has to do with quickly reaching, grabbing, punching, mirrors edge traversal, learning to jump using locomotion and buttons in tandem etc along with the biggest thing combined with the above; melee- which is what Alyx avoided entirely on purpose, because, frankly, most people aren't able to deal with that many virtual and analog inputs at once.

** also there is a seated option right in the options menu for ya Jeff just in case you want to try that again without having to use your legs or work out the locomotion nausea thing while standing up. Overall Boneworks is probably the best 'immersive' full-control-vr-physics driven legit-video-game- straddling something between portal, mirrors edge, the stanley parable and garry's mod. It's a big physics jungle gym so the idea of teleportation kind of...breaks the very idea of the game, but I don't know that it is necessarily indicative of the game's quality or success as a VR title wholesale all said and done, though user-experience may vary. Either way I'm sure Jeff will have a much easier/better time with HL:Alyx since that game takes into account the user-comfort-pacing and locomotion options that he wishes were in boneworks. Two very different games; personally I would have liked more of Boneworks' physical presence in HL:Alyx, but still both extremely promising ends of how to handle a first-person action adventure with physics and virtual-realism.

the extra fov of the index adds to motion sickness or at least that is what other experienced vr youtubers have said., so even if you have "vr legs" people still usually need to re-acclimate to the larger fov. Boneworks uses the player body as a full physics object so adding teleporting would probably break things. The story is an homage to half life and portal.

I'm sure there is somewhat of a "marketing" deal in place between Sony and Epic to show Unreal 5. Going off Tim Sweeny's twitter history the last few years, it would have been incredibly surprising if he went with MS. They'll always do business together because it just makes sense, but he seems far from a fan of MS.

I'm coming back to Division 2. It's just that Doom Eternal and the new stuff for Control cut in line. I did start the warlords dlc, and simply got distracted. But I am really looking forward to it, and glad it sounds good.

For those few wondering, Abby's opinion of The Gone-Away World is flat out wrong disagreeable to me. The book is a wonderful bit of weird SF fantasy, and while not as good as the author's Angelmaker, still absolutely worth reading.

I have been reading The Gone World as well after it was mentioned on this site earlier. Enjoying it a lot.

Never try to power through nausea in VR. It just doesn't work, it makes it so much worse 99% of the time. VR nausea is pretty bad and should be avoided at all cost. VR is incredible, but when it hits you in the tummy, it hits hard.. Sorta like street food in that way.

I've been playing VR for a while, and you do get over the motion sickness pretty quick if you do it the right way. Start slow and work your way up to movement. Just assaulting ALL your senses at once early on is almost always going to set you off.

There's a reason why the VR games where you stand still are the most popular.

Btw, Pavlov is the VR shooter you want to play. It has Workshop support so you can get all sorts of old CoD and CS maps and shit, it's wild.

Also FWIW, I've never played AC:Syndicate and went to buy it during the EGS sale and turns out they gave it away free at some point. So.....installing now.

The Gone World is such a good book! Very inventive and terrifying take on time travel.

The Gone World was the best book I’ve read in a long time, probably since the third Stormlight Archive.

There was also talk about Mass Effect trilogy getting remastered (sorry it was in last week podcast).

Yeah people are pretty used to moving around in VR now, it feels like everyone had weird moments early on but the people who play regularly it's totally fine.
I know Bakalar hasn't played it a ton, it gets easier.

Pumped for middle-aged THPS. They should age as you play. Each skill point used adds a year to the skater's life.

Seriously, though, I saw some gameplay from this remake and I don't like the "respawn" glitch effect. That tells me this could go in the wrong direction.

People enjoying Animal Crossing despite all if it's archaic, backwards, bat-shit weird decisions is a testament to how cool that game is. But Animal Crossing in talks fo Giant Bomb's game of the year would just be silly. Especially since for as much as Jeff loved 2016 Doom, he said no dice cause the multiplayer which nobody bought Doom for sucked.

Imagine the talk if Nintendo nailed all the super obvious grievances people had with the game instead of being Nintendo. It could be so much more if they'd just stop doing what they do!

@alexsmith420x: I have completed the majority of his games and I shake my head at the mention of his name now more then not.

The Wookiee situation Vinny mentioned is KotOR 1. Mission, the Twi'lek girl, has Zaalbar as a Wookiee sidekick. If you play on the dark side, near the end of the game, some of your party members turn on you (the ones who aren't influenced by you). If you have high enough relationship with Zaalbar, you can persuade him to kill Mission. But he turns on you a little bit after this if you do that.
