The Piff Pod is the podcast of John van der Put aka Piff the Magic Dragon, so in that context Randy's magic trick explanation makes more sense. Why he brought it up in the first place, I don't know (I have not listened to the episode.)

It should be noted that per a later Ars Technica story, Callender filed a discrimination claim against Gearbox ten days before they sued him for fraud. He then countersued Gearbox a month later.

Most of the internet will tell you "yes" but I honestly think WatchDogs 1 is better. The puzzles are better and the story makes more sense. It's a lot more serious and not goofy but I think they explore the abilities in more creative ways and a lot of the action is at least semi justified. WD2 just overcompensated and it's a bunch of wacky stuff, and kids 3D printing machine guns because Facebook sucks and a good 3/4 of the game is spent driving around in your little remote control drone and opening doors for yourself.

If you do play WD2 and skip the first game, then do yourself a favor and play full lethal. Going non-lethal is really not worth it and the story doesn't try to justify any of it anyway.

It's too bad they're so dismissive of having a top 10 games of all time. If they did a podcast where they reveal/discuss each of their personal top 10, I think that would be really entertaining. I wouldn't want to hear a GOTY style deliberation for it, though.

This episode is A LOT.

Also the influencer/affiliate program talk was fantastic; I could listen to Jeff and crew chat about this stuff for ages.

I think that it would be a lot of fun to have a feature where each GB person plays a bit through their personal top 5 / top 10 games. The problem with trying to come up with THE BEST / most important games is a fools errand perhaps, but you can certainly have your own private list.

Never too late to become a "Souls" guy. One of the best series out there.

Ooooooh boy. Did I ever make a mistake by playing this podcast over my bluetooth speaker with my garage door open as I was doing work. After not pausing that Randy Pitchford segment soon enough, I have to wonder if I can look my mailman in the eye ever again.

The affiliate programs are tricky. I'd rather GB stayed away from that stuff and stuck to premium just to remove any shadow of a doubt that there's anything shady going on, because someone will always latch on to that as a criticism. I buy Premium to show GB my support for their work and I buy the games they show me to show support for the devs. I'm okay with the split going that way.

Thinking about this Randy Pitchford thing and how it could possibly be worse than he's letting on, but not as bad as child porn. Maybe it was a private camshow that he paid for?
