Looks horrible and the Smashing Pumpkins song is so out of place for this type of movie.

Ever since I saw 2012 I made the decision to never see another disaster movie again They're literally all the same.

I mean, what else do you do with Rampage? I thought it was going to be a goofy comedy, but this is weirder than that. I'm just confused as to why they purchased the rights to the game, if they just wanted to make a Godzilla clone. Not since Doom staring Dwayne Johnson, has a video game movie been more narratively removed from its video game.

I really don't understand why everyone, everywhere, is like "this looks bad and I'm going to see it". Why? Why go to the cinema and give money for something that is so bad? Sure, there are some things that "are so bad it's good", but this looks the most awfully generic and uninteresting disaster movie possible. You could remove the title and replace it for anything else and it would still work. Hell, if you removed the animals part and told me that this was footage from The Rock's San Andreas I would believe it. This trailer almost looks like a parody of disaster movie trailers or summer blockbuster trailers but I can't even give it credit for that because of how self-serious it's taking itself. Looks like a made-for-TV SyFy movie or one Asylum movie but with a bigger budget.

This looks to be my kind of stupid, I might go see this.

Yes, I know my taste in movies is awful. I've learned to embrace that.

It looks like a dumb movie that could be fun to watch with a group of friends. Rampage is a dumb series so anyone expecting high art in the movie version is insane. This looks exactly like what a Rampage movie would be. Not every movie is a masterpiece feel good character think piece.

I'm sad they just don't build up through the whole movie to an exact 2d side view recreation of Rampage. It would be Doom's 1st person scene all over again!

Only screenshot I could find online of the human George. Not sure what system this is from but the Master System version doesn't have this screen and information.

This is shockingly true to the source material, no doubt right down to the fact that it'll be boring and repetitive and way too long.

God the writing is awful. Genetic editing. Guy on the ground yelling incoming at a chopper as a giant wolf leaps at it. Etc.

I also can't get behind movies like this where the theoretical human casualties at the hand of a jerky creature mean nothing compared to the life of the animal, or that modern weaponry can't touch the animal just because it's big. An A10's gattling CANNON can shred all but the most recent generations of TANK ARMOR. But a big monkey takes it better than I'd take a .22 round. Just hit the SOB with some depleted uranium, dummies!

This movie is dumb in all the wrong ways. Just seems so generic.

Well I did giggle a little bit. I'm not gonna go out of my way to see this or anything, but I won't mind seeing it sometime down the line.

Lol, I'm really hoping there's some sort of "The Rock movie Universe" in play where essentially the Rock is playing the same character in this movie, Jumanji and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

It could work. Too many video game movie adaptations take themselves too seriously. Our hobby and our art is dumb.

This is 100% a thing that should and must exist. Looks like a great B-movie throw back. Hopefully it is fun and dumb! IMHO the only way to make films like this succeed is for the film to be treated as serious as possible. Whenever the filmmakers try to "wink" at the audience or "be in on the joke" it falls flat.

I am thinking of Pacific Rim as a good example of this.

While it has been a good decade or two since I played the game (me and some friends managed to grind through the entire thing), I seem to remember the monsters being about this size. Closer to a 1930's King Kong rather than a Godzilla.

I want to see this way more than any Marvel movie ever. Seems moronic that some people seem to be expecting realism from this.

@crazybagman: I don't want realism. I want silly, if anything. I want it to look like people have fun in the movie, and not that they made something like San Andreas with monsters substituting for natural disasters.

If the Rock don't straight up take some pills and turn into big Rock and fights Lizzie and Ralph with George than fuck this movie.

I would have liked for this movie to have the fun, silly tone that the Jumanji sequel took, instead of the Battleship one they went with.

When I saw this trailer I thought 'The Rock' was making a re-make of Mighty Joe Young. I suppose the story is the same in either case, but Terry Moore is more attractive than "The Rock".
