Games/DLC I Finished in 2015 (And Other General Accomplishments)

Same as last year's list, but this year!

List items

  • Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix Complete: January 10

  • Double Dragon and Double Dragon III Complete: January 16 (Steam, Co-Op)

  • Easy Arcade Mode Complete (PS4) January 25

  • Holodome Onslaught (DLC) Complete: January 31

Normal Mode Complete Solo w/ Aurelia: February 13

Claptastic Voyage DLC (PC) Complete: April 5

Normal Mode PS4 Playthrough as Athena Complete: July 8

Wilhelm Playthrough Complete: July 24 (PS4, Normal)

100% Trophy Completion on Holodome Onslaught: July 26 (PS4)

True Vault Hunter Mode Complete for the first time: July ?? (forgot to add this when I did it, PS4)

Claptrap Playthrough Complete: August 14 (PS4, Normal)

Man, the Holodome wasn't all that great. But Aurelia really surprised me, and I think I may main her now. Sorry, Athena.

April 5 Update: Finished Claptastic Voyage and I had a swell time with it. I'm not one that absolutely hates Claptrap, but this DLC made me a bit more sympathetic towards him. I also really liked the villain of this DLC. And Aurelia is still a pretty awesome character to play as.

August 2015 Update: That makes 3/4 of the base characters I've played the main campaign with and 1/2 of the downloadable characters. Surprisingly, that's better than Borderlands 2, where I only finished everything with two characters (Axton and Krieg, was working on Maya before I took a break from it though) Despite some of the shortcomings in The Pre-Sequel, I do have a lot of fun with it. At this point, it's probably the one game (besides maybe Borderlands 2, thanks to the Handsome Collection) I've played the most this year. If you're still a fan of the franchise, I do recommend giving it a try at some point, though you can probably skip The Holodome DLC if you only pick up the base game unless you really want those extra 10 levels.

  • Legend Mode Complete: February 1

    Cia's Tale Complete: February 7

Well that's one Christmas gift game down, several more to go. I'm also taking up Joystiq's "Four in February" Challenge for fun, for my backlog, and I guess just in remembrance of the site itself, and this is the first one I finished this month. Considering it was done on the first day in February, I guess it gives me plenty of time to pick the other three games I want to complete.

Time to tackle Adventure Mode and some of the DLC that I've purchased.

  • PS4 Version Complete: February 8

Yeah, I still really like this game. Was going to double-dip (well, actually triple since I actually purchased it on the 360 but never finished it before selling it, and got the game a second time on Steam through a Humble Bundle) but thankfully this was a PS+ title, so I got it again at no extra cost. It's pretty fun, and I can't wait to see where this series goes on from here.

Oh, also Game 2/4 for "4 for February."

  • Arcade Mode Finished for the First Time: February 14

    Story Mode Complete: February 23

    Thank you, PSN Flash Sale!

Four for February Game #4/4 (after completing the story mode)

  • Campaign Complete: February 20

Yeah, that was a lot of fun. Unfortunately I seem to have hit a glitch with getting my Survival Rank to max level, but I got Agility and Strength maxed out.

Oh, and I guess this is my first 2015 title that I've finished this year. Not a bad one to start out with.

    Four for February Game #3/4

  • Specifically the 3DS Version.

    Unlocked all characters: February 25

That's usually my main goal outside of unlocking all stages, so I'll say this one is basically "complete." Also unlocked all stages a while back, but don't have a specific date.

Four for February game #5/4, I guess.

  • PS4 Version Complete: March 7 (Normal Ending)

    Extra Saga complete: March 9

All Parallel Quests (Normal Finishes, No DLC) Complete: March 14

  • PS4 Episode 1 Finished (Again): March 28

Finally bought the game for myself after playing the first episode at a friend's house last year and replayed the first episode, keeping "most" of my choices the same. Only changed one major thing, and chose a few different dialogue options in other places that didn't really have much of an impact on anything (as far as I know of) Preparing to start Episode 2 soon.

    Episode 2 Complete: March 29

Another really good episode. Can't wait to see what happens next, hope we don't have to wait for another four months.

    Episode 3 Complete: June 24

Well another pretty good episode. If you want my thoughts, check the discussion thread.

    Episode 4 Complete: August 19

Episode 5/Platinum Trophy Complete: October 20

Man, what a ride that was. I compiled most of my thoughts in the Discussion Thread, but yeah, this is definitely a contender for my GOTY this year. Can't wait to see what's next for either this series or Borderlands 3.

  • First Win (PS4): April 8

  • Beat Terramorphous the Invincible Solo (as Krieg, PS4) for the first time: April 11

First time I hit level 72 with a character: June 7 (Krieg)

Over Powered Level 1 Unlocked: June 7

First Ever Pearlescent (Butcher Shotgun) and Second (Sawbar Assault Rifle) Gained: June 21

This is the first time I've beaten Terramorphous (the raid boss included with the base game) in any real capacity (technically did it co-op once, but I died so my friend finished the fight on his own, so I don't count that as a win for myself) Did it with Krieg using a Double Penetrating Unkempt Harold and a bit of my action skill to keep me alive. Felt nice.

June 7 Update: Finally achieved something I've wanted for a while now, I got a character up to level 72 for the first time. Now to try to get up to Over Power Level 8 and get the kind of equipment I want there. But first, time to upgrade some of my equipment to level 72.

June 21 Update: Man, never thought I'd see a pearlescent weapon while farming a bit, let alone two in the same day.

  • Story Mode Finished: April 14

First Living Towers Completed: April 14

Arcade Endings for all characters + Goro complete: April 30

Test Your Might Complete: May 2

Man, I enjoyed the story a lot. It's been a while since I was so into something that I completed it in one sitting, but it kept me rather entertained throughout, wondering what would happen next.

  • Official Mode: Mobile Suit Gundam, Zeta Gundam and Char's Counterattack Complete: May 21

Official Mode: Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny Complete: May 22

I'll be honest, the only reason I have this game is because I goofed up and didn't read up on things. A sale was going on this week on PSN with the "Complete Edition" of this game on sale for $9. Unfortunately I didn't realize until it was too late that this only included all the DLC in a bundle, not the main game. So I bought the game shortly after. Yup.

June 21 Final Thoughts: I think other Dynasty Warrior-style anime games have spoiled me. Some of the story stuff seems really disjointed and sometimes seem to end right in the middle of that particular series, which isn't really fun for someone who isn't that familiar with Gundam outside of Gundam Wing and G Gundam.

  • First EX Stage Pokemon Caught: June 2

Mega Mewtwo Y Defeated: June 13

I could have put a few different accomplished goals and such on here, but kept forgetting to (or I was too lazy to do so) but here's one that's been avoiding me for over a month now. By the way, it was Suicune.

  • Co-Op Campaign Complete: July 25 (PS4)

You know what, as controversial as this opinion may be, I think I enjoyed playing this more than IV. It's absolutely on the short side and I imagine I would be disappointed if I bought it at full price (got a bundle with this and IV: Re-Elected on PSN for about $15 or so) but the flight controls are great, I enjoyed several of the Sin weapons, and it was nice to see some characters we haven't seen in a few games make a return. There, I said it.

  • First Time Played: August 1

Can't really "beat" the game outside of getting all the trophies, so I played it with a friend for a couple of hours. It's pretty fun.

  • Sampled All "Retro" Games: August 15

By Sampling, I mean at least doing one Snapshot and starting the game up and trying it out for a bit. And I say "retro" despite most of the games on here being such, but I'm specifically referring to games with the Snapshot function.

  • Chapter 1 Complete: August 27

    Chapter 2 Complete: August 28

    Chapter 3 Complete: August 29

    Chapter 4 Complete: August 30

Legend Mode Story Complete: August 31

"Completed" Dream Log: September 5 (Beat Shanks, have not finished everything)

    All Characters Unlocked: September 5

Alright, now that I've finished the story mode, I think this is a pretty fine game. I enjoy the Kizuna Rush mode added to the game, and it's nice to have most of the One Piece story up to this point in the game as well. Now I need to chip further away at the Dream Mode and unlock the rest of the characters!

"Final Island" in Dream Mode Complete/Nightmare Log Unlocked: November 12

Just trying to chip away more at the game in order to get that Platinum. At this point, I just need to finish up the Legend Logs of two story missions, S-Rank a bunch of Dream Log islands, and try to grind out the coins and posters. The first two won't be hard, but the last one will be pretty time consuming.

  • Dark Below Strike Completed: September 11

Despite having this DLC since its release, I never did the strike until now with the 2.0 update. haven't really played Destiny since The House of Wolves expansion release either. Started playing the rest of the story content there too. Thanks to the 2.0 update, I'm starting to feel myself drawn to the game again.

House of Wolves Story Missions Complete: September 11

Well the final boss was pretty straightforward, but other than that I enjoyed this content more than The Dark Below. More story and a bit more lore was a big plus. No real complaints to speak of for The House of Wolves. I might just jump into The Taken King after being on the fence about it.

Leveled up Hunter to 34: September 11

Leveled up Warlock to 34: September 12

September 13 Update: I seem to have some update for this game on my birthday, beat the main game last year on it, now I pre-ordered The Taken King this year. The 2.0 update really sold me on picking up the expansion, and I'm enjoying myself in this game again.

The Taken King story complete: September 26 (Hunter)

It's nice to have an actual story within Destiny now. I enjoyed the content within The Taken King more than the other two expansions. Still have a few missions to complete, along with the strikes and I'll likely never touch the raid. Fun times.

  • Nero/Dante Normal Playthrough Complete: September 22

Got this as a birthday gift this year. Been playing it on and off since then, playing a little bit of Vergil to see how he compares to playing as Nero/Dante and all that. Still a pretty good game, and with all of these cool updates, it's even better than before. Recommended.

  • Remastered Complete: October 3 (Xbox One, Co-Op)

What can I say? It's Castle Crashers.

  • Beta Played: October 10

Not a bad beta. I enjoyed it, but I don't think I'll be picking up the full game right away, if at all.

  • Played the closed technical test and without going into too many details (NDAs and all that) I'm... not really a fan of it to say the least. Some of it might be technical stuff, but it's just not doing it for me. Tried four characters and I only enjoyed one of them, honestly.

  • Season 1, Episode 1 Complete: October 31

Well, the second season (which I have not played) is a PlayStation Plus game in November, and the first season is on sale, decided to go ahead and pick it up on the PS4 and play through it again to make my choices from the first season matter in preparation for the second. I guess it is Halloween, so there's that too.

As for opinions on the first episode, I thought it was probably the slowest of all the episodes going by memory. Had a bit of trouble remembering what to do in the pharmacy and the hotel, but made it through with no real trouble. The game has kind of lost a little something now as well since I've played through it myself twice before (once on PS3 and again on PC when I ran into a save data glitch on PS3 and had to start the whole season over after Episode 4) Not sure if I'll marathon the whole season today or go through a few episodes here and there until Tuesday.

    Episode 2 and 3 Complete: October 31

Well I guess I'm committed to finishing this thing on Halloween. Episode 3 is still an emotional roller coaster, even after knowing what would happen. So far I'm pretty committed to my old choices instead of changing things up. Two more episodes plus 400 Days left to go.

    Episode 4 Complete: November 1

Well, so much for finishing this up for Halloween. Changed one choice in this only because I couldn't remember my original choice, but it's one that really only changes one discussion, so not a big deal. I'll at least finish the fifth episode today, and I'll probably push through 400 Days too.

Episode 5 and Season 1 (non-400 Days) Platinum Complete: November 1

Yeah, this one still makes me feel pretty bad, to the point I just stayed silent at the end. One major thing I really appreciate during this episode is during the last two big moments, there was no music to affect your mood, you just took in what was happening without anything else to affect how the developers think you "should" feel during those scenes. It's the little things, you know? Just the special "400 Days" episode left, then I just wait until Tuesday for the second season to be available for download for Plus members. Unfortunately I won't be going into that one completely spoiler-free. I never thought I would play it anytime soon as it was being released, so I spoiled myself on that one a bit too much, but reading about things and seeing them play out for myself are still two completely different experiences. It's just a bit of a shame I won't be going in completely ignorant either.

400 Days: Vince Story Done November 1

Fuck Wall Street. Also plan to do this chronologically from day 1 to 400.

400 Days: Wyatt Story Done: November 1

I won Rock Paper Scissors first time too, thankfully.

    400 Days: Russel's Story Done: November 1

Not the kind of reunion I would want.

400 Days: Shel's story and the Epilogue Complete, plus 100% of the trophies: November 1

Last time I did 400 Days, Vince stayed behind while everyone else went with Tavia. This time, everyone went with her. Now it's time to wait for Season 2. Also I can add this to my growing list of 100%/Platinum/S-Rank games when it comes to achievements/trophies.

  • PS4 Prototype Complete: November 3

Not a bad little demo. The boss beat me pretty badly the first time I played through it, but the second time I was a little more careful with how I used the meter to keep my healer healing everyone up and eventually won. Clear time was about 35 minutes. Really wish I had some money to throw at this game's Kickstarter.

  • Episode 1 Complete: November 3

Despite spoiling myself on some of the big story beats this season, this episode was still pretty tense in spots. I'll probably go an episode a day with this one.

    Episode 2 Complete: November 5

I need to stop saying I plan to play these kind of games with any real schedule. I thought this episode was a bit weaker than the first, but it's still a pretty good episode. Kind of regret one decision I made, but I won't go back on my first playthrough of this. Just have to stick with my choices up to this point.

    Episode 3 Complete: November 5

Well, had enough time to do two episodes in one day, so if I were following my "one a day" rule, I'd be caught up now. I'll likely try to finish the last two episodes tomorrow since I have the night off from work.

    Episode 4 Complete: November 6

So far this season doesn't seem nearly as tense as the first, but at the same time I'm having fun with it, and now I'm feeling pretty compelled to finish this one off. Maybe not as great as the first season, but I'm still enjoying it so far. One more episode to go.

    Episode 5 Complete/100% Trophy Completion: November 6

Would have had this one finished early in the morning, but the game had some issues and started to have some serious framerate problems. I'm avoiding spoilers in this, but the very last decision in my game took me a while to figure out what to do. I don't think this was as strong as the first season, but there were still some really emotional moments in the last episode. Good job, Telltale.

Also that makes the third game I've gained 100% of the trophies in this year, which is possibly a record for me. All three are Telltale games too.

  • Main Story Complete: November 21

I heard some people complain about the story being pretty weak, but I thought it was fine, although the beginning was a bit of a slog. Not sure how far I'll go into the postgame stuff though, just don't have the time for that anymore. If you're a fan of the series or just starting out with Disgaea, I recommend it.

First Postgame Bossfight Defeated: November 21

I imagine this is as far as I'll be able to go for quite some time, just had to reincarnate a character and powerlevel them some more, after that it was fairly easy.

Second Postgame Boss Defeated: November 22

Maybe I will go a bit further into the postgame than I planned.

    Asagi Unlocked: November 24

Maybe someday she'll get her own game...

    All DLC Complete: December 28

  • Minutemen Ending Complete: December 19

Ended up starting the game up, and then started the game over with a new character. The first time starting, I really wasn't enjoying myself, but with my second character I tried some things differently (melee build) and had a much better time playing the game and enjoying myself. Overall, pretty good but not as great as my fonder memories for 3 and New Vegas. Wonder how the DLC will play out in the future.

This is also likely the last game I'll finish in 2015, so now I guess it's time to think about my GOTY list.
