2016 and the Video Game
Hey it's a new year and it's time for me to start a new list of stuff for my own benefit. Mostly things that are coming out that I want to keep an eye on/have played and want to take some notes on.

Played a shit ton of Titanfall on PC. Got this on PS4 and have been playing almost daily matches.
I was provisionally excited about this game after the e3 trailer last year. I was still concerned that they couldn't nail the speed or heavy metal horror vibe of the original Doom games. The campaign turned out better than it had any right to be.
In this, the year of Good Aesthetics, Brigador saw the light of day.

Rise of Iron expansion got me back into Destiny again, as expected.
Yay this game came out and it's very good and it's got styyyyyyyyyyyyyyle
Loved the shit out of the first game. Everything I've played so far is rad as hell.
Having a soft spot for first-person dungeon crawlers, I picked up Demon Gaze a couple years back. While I was into its mechanics, the writing was pretty obnoxious. I was hoping that Stranger of Sword City would preserve the things I liked about Demon Gaze while also dispensing with the parts that kept me at arm's length. So far, so good.
THIS GOT A PC RELEASE IN 2016 AND THEREFORE IT'S OKAY TO PUT THIS ON A LIST OF GAMES THAT CAME OUT IN 2016 RIGHT?
Based on the strength of Awakening, I'm supremely interested in seeing how this series manages three-ish distinct storylines within one package.
Against all logic, I wound up pumping hours and hours into this game on both PC and iOS.
Technically in beta at the end of 2015, this approach to interactive fiction is super stylish and cool.
Roguelike bullet hell mech game from Arcen.
The rollout for these two God Eater games has been so utterly baffling. So, you can pre-order GE2 on PS4 and get this one for free on PS4. It's also just $20 on Vita. Why Bandai Namco thought that the world needed two action hunting games in the same franchise two months apart is well beyond me.
So far, I'm having fun with the vita version, but who knows if I'll still have an appetite for more God Eater by the time GE2 comes out.
OCTOBER(?!?)
Out in 2016?
*crosses fingers that this is better than Dark Souls II*
I slept on this game at launch, but in 2016 picked it up along with The Following DLC.
I've already got Elite Dangerous on PC, but I might get this for PS4?
Remake coming in 2016?
Delayed until 2017! :(
2017! :(
Toukiden Kiwami reminded me how much fun I had with the original Vita release. After playing around with the Japanese demo of Toukiden 2, I'm pretty happy with the direction they're going. I was initially hesitant because of how rigid the first game felt in terms of the game world, and a lot of narrative seemed to be wrapped in a way to explain why there isn't an open world. That said, even with most of the menu elements in Japanese, I had a great time and really can't wait to see what the full game looks like
Japan release in August 2016, so probably NA release in 2017?
