Games That I Missed Out On

This entire list is dedicated to games that I originally played and didn't enjoy as much as other did. But I eventually returned to these games, and found more enjoyment out of them.

List items

  • First Game: Halo 2 / 3, I'm not entirely sure.

    Turning Point: Halo CE Anniversary

I'm not too sure where I started with Halo, my guess is that my first experience with these games was with Halo 2 on original Xbox - but only briefly (my family owned an original Xbox, and my dad was and still is heavily into shooters). I would argue that my first true experience was with Halo 3, I played through around 3 missions and completely gave up. I was frustrated with the combat and enemies, and didn't see the point in it. Keep in mind that at that point in time, I was too accustomed with other shooters like Call of Duty.

Everything about my opinions of Halo changed when I played Combat Evolved for the first time on Xbox 360 last year, something about the first game immediately sucked me in. I'm not sure whether it was the atmosphere, the music or otherwise, but there was an immediate charm that I found admirable. The story was much easier to follow, and I was more invested in it this time around.

  • First Game: Mass Effect 1

    Turning Point: Mass Effect 2

I didn't have any strong feelings towards Mass Effect and I originally shrugged it off as a Star Wars clone with lots of alien sex.

I started with the first game on Xbox 360, got through to beating it and didn't touch the sequel for 5 years.

  • First Game: Saints Row The Third

    Turning Point: Saints Row 1 & 2
