10 games I'm looking forward to the most in 2021

2020 Report Card

I played five of the games I was looking forward to this year; Doom Eternal, Spelunky 2, and Murder By Numbers made their way into my top 10. The other two were Creaks and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics - they definitely didn't make their way into my GOTY list.

Beyond a Steel Sky also came out this year, but I didn't end up playing it.

As per usual - Scorn, UFO 50, and Xenonauts 2 didn't come out this year. I feel like I should just stop putting them on my '10 games I'm looking forward to the most' lists if they're not out next year...

List items

  • Look, I don't really think there's much chance of this actually coming out in 2021, but I'm still putting it here, because...I want to believe.

  • I am so hyped for another first-person Resident Evil game. Resident Evil 7 was so good.

  • I, um, guess this is actually, really, truly coming out in 2021, right...?

  • Now this is a cyberpunk game worth looking forward to.

  • This just looks sick. The footage I've seen makes me think 2017's Prey...but Russian. I'm not holding my breath that this will actually come out in 2021, but I'm gonna put it on this list anyway.

  • I've always enjoyed the presentation of the Endless 4X games, so I'm very excited to see how Amplitude takes on a Civilization-style game.

  • This looks like some cool ACE Team weirdness. And if we were going to rank kinds of weirdness, that would definitely be near the top.

  • The developers seem confident that it's /actually/ going to come out via early access at the start of next year, then the full release will be six months after that.

...I'm sure that will totally happen exactly to schedule...

  • This just seems very adorable and pleasant.

  • I'm not exactly sure how interested I am in this. If I'm understanding the premise correctly, it seems like it could possibly end up a bit tedious. I'm keeping an open mind though, because Arkane's made some fantastic stuff in the past. Also, I'm into the 70s aesthetic.
