Yesterday, Blizzard finally released a long awaited character onto the player test region in Overwatch. His name is Doomfist and sadly he is not voice by Terry Crews. Instead he is voiced by someone else named Sahr Ngaujah. I will admit at first I was saddened by the exclusion of Mr. Old Spice himself, but after a while it kinda made sense. Availability, money, the fact that doomfist is supposed to be nigerian, while Mr. Crews is very american: that kind of stuff. I got over it fast, especially given Ngaujah fits into the role very well and does a great job from what I've seen so far.
I got to play him a little between the servers crashing yesterday and he really seems like a fun character. While many, including myself, thought he would be a tank, he is instead another offense character. His moveset is fast, vertical/horizontal and hard hitting. I expect his inclusion to really shake up the standard of team comps going forward. Below I have included the developer update and the intro cinematic they released alongside the new character yesterday. I would have included a link to blizz's website if they had an official post, but as of now there is only the videos below: more than enough to get you up to speed on ol' doomy himself.
Note: I would've also included a video showing off his gameplay, but that might get a bit iffy linking some rando youtuber here. I would advise just typing Doomfist gameplay into your nearest browser for that.
What do you think about the new character? Are you sad (or happy) Terry Crews isn't in the recording seat? If you've been on Overwatch hiatus, will this get you back in to try him out? Please tell me! I need to know: for a friend...
