    The  OTs-02 Kiparis (Russian word for "cypress") was designed  in the Soviet Union by designer Afanasiev during the early 70s. The firearm was not adopted until 1991, when the Russian Internal Affairs Ministry were looking for a special purpose police SMG. It's intended for police and security units and is currently used by the Russian police and Internal Affairs Ministry.
