...Video history of the Sonic saga?  They make Sonic's journey into the toilet bowl of irrelevance sound so epic.

Sounds great.  Sonic 2 was my first game for the Sega Genesis, my first game console I owned.

I just wonder why there's no love for Sonic CD. Chances are, you've played Sonics 1-Knuckles to death, but you may have only played Sonic CD once, or, not at all, since the Sega CD was an expensive piece that failed miserably. And Sonic CD really *is* a great game, and since it uses pretty much the same engine that the rest of those Sonic games used, the only difficulty I can foresee in porting would be the CD quality music, while still fitting all those games onto one cartridge. I think it could probably be done with modern compression.

I'd totally buy a portable version of Sonic CD for the DS, especially if it came in a pack with the rest of them.

That's cool and all, but if they were going to make a Sonic collection for the DS, why not just go all out and include all genesis era titles, maybe even Sonic CD, or just everything leading up to the Dreamcast era. I'd feel ripped off. Also, why is there a video promotion for a DS game that came out months ago?

I absolutely refuse to own yet another copy of the core Sonic The Hedgehog games.  I've bought so many remakes and collections that Sega has put out over the years that its hard to count how many Sonic games their are in my house.

    Let's see, I have:
    The original carts,
Sega Smash Pack 1 and 2 for the pc,
Sonic Mega Collection and Mega Collection Plus,
    Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection,
Then I also have Sonic on my iPod, my iPod Touch, and my Env Touch.

Somehow Sega got me to keep buying the same games over and over again, and thus i conclude that there should never, EVER, be another collection of Sonic games released... Ever!  LET THE DAMN HEDGEHOG DIE ALREADY!

@super_mario_john: I somehow got Sonic 2 on my shitty cheap cellphone. It's the worst thing ever, and it cost $7, but I bought it out of intense curiosity (and because I don't pay the phone bill). It really is aweful, it's got like 6 levels and... Ugh.

@TooWalrus: Yeah, cell phone Sonic games are exceptionally terrible.  I find it hard to believe that my phone can play Resident Evil: Degeneration without any problems, but Sonic the Hedgehog 2 can't keep its frame rate in the double digits.

Yeah, why not just make a port of Sonic Jam... Or better yet make a full game based on the 3D Sonic World of Sonic Jam... That would have been the best 3D Sonic game ever if they had developed it into more than a tech demo, rivaling the N64's Mario on the lowly Saturn hardware (ok maybe not). Such an awesome 3D engine for the hardware, and Sonic's 3D design was funky and cute, none of that "edgy" crap they tried later on...

I hope Jeff knows about this.

    I'm sure he's SO STOKED!

Please tell Jeff that his DSi can take a break from Mario Calculator, for SONIC!

Please note that there is much intended sarcasm above.

What are you trying to imply with that sarcasm though?

That these few games aren't good so nobody should care? False.

That the DSi has no games, only calculators (wasn't it clocks)? False.

That people should care for people who may think the above is true? False.

Please note I don't really care to know your intentions, it's a rhetorical question.

I've already got them all emulated (including Sonic CD) on my PSP.

I don't know why they don't make a bigger deal about Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Its one game, Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles are boring separately. Sonic 3 and Knuckles is the best Sonic game of all time. If anyone tells you that CD is the best- you slap them across the face because they've obviously never actually played it.

I think I'll just stick with Rush myself. The classics are fine and all, but "meh"

I think the DS is a great host for a Sonic Collection. I had similar collections on more powerful consoles, and the graphics simply can't compete with other games. Wiiware is the only other spot I can see a collection like this excelling. Besides, who wouldn't enjoy having a little retro Sonic in their game library. It's fun to discover that, though you haven't played it in years, various landscapes and secrets seem burned into your brain. Then when you see them again, you get that feeling you had when you first saw them. I guess I just love games.

I just hope it has a better presentation than that shitty Sega Collection for PS3 and 360.

Why do they always omit Sonic CD? The only collection you can get it on is Sonic Gems Collection, unfortunately there's only one gem in that compilation, the rest of the game is a steaming pile of shit. If that weren't bad enough, it's was exclusive to the Gamecube even though Mega Collection got a multiplatform release. Seriously why the hatin' on Sonic CD?

It wasn't bad. Hardly high praise though.  Worth trying if you see it cheap.

I can't be excited with Sonic anymore.  He has disappointed me far too many times.  I will just stick with Rush and Chronicles.
