Officially, NBA Jam is only coming to the Wii. It's officially on the record as a Wii exclusive, and that means that any news you may have heard about the game coming to any other platform isn't official. Officially.
Like that news story you read, earlier this month, which reported that Germany's media ratings board, the USK, rated versions of NBA Jam for the 360 and PS3, meaning that a version of NBA Jam for the 360 or PS3 had been submitted to the ratings board to facilitate their release? Which means that the game is coming out in Europe on the 360 and PS3, and could come out in other territories on those platforms? That story is not official. It's not necessarily unofficial. I mean, the story is true. It's just not official. That's how "official" works.
Here's another good example of what it means to be official: Kotaku received a tip today pointing toward the ESRB's website, where it was revealed that EA submitted a version of NBA Jam for the 360 and PS3 to be rated. You may look at that ratings board listing and draw the conclusion that this actually means EA is releasing NBA Jam on the 360 and PS3 at some point in the near future, and that the game's current Wii exclusivity is merely timed.
== TEASER ==But you would be wrong! Because this isn't official information. Officially, NBA Jam is a Wii exclusive... even though EA is making that game for the 360 and PS3, and the game will be released on those platforms.
So, there you have it. NBA Jam is officially a Wii exclusive. End of story.
(Except for the fact that NBA Jam is totally going to come out on the 360 and PS3. But that's not official. You can't put stock in that.)
Either way, I'm looking forward to getting my arcade-basketball fix when NBA Jam is released on the Wii on October 5th (officially), and on other platforms down the road (not official).
