    NBA Jam

Game » consists of 7 releases. Released Oct 05, 2010

Return to the roots of arcade NBA basketball in the 2010 installment of NBA Jam. Developed by EA Canada for seventh-generation game consoles, this rebirth brings back the gameplay, aesthetics, and gratuitous secrets of the original 1993 arcade game.

What do YOU want from this game?

Now that it's official but still shrouded in mystery, we can start talking about the possibilities in this classic revival.

So I ask, what is it that you want or that this game needs in order for it to be a successful (relative to your opinion) NBA Jam game?

Peersonally I feel that Tim Kitzrow (the announcer who made "He's on fire" the hottest catchphrase of 1993) needs to come back. Actually, I would love it if the announcing was stilted, like it was in the original game, something like "PAYTON!...passes, TO KEMP!...the REBOUND....FANCY MOVE!".

Even a little thing would be nice, such as the "sparkle" sound that the ball makes whenever it is stolen/blocked making it into the game.

    What do yous guys think?

Well I spent most of my time playing the GAMEBOY version of the classic, though I did a little on sega and the arcade version as well - but I think it was great how good of a game it was with only 3 buttons:

    Turbo, shoot/block, pass/steal

Also I played some NBA game on PS1, though I don't remember what it was called... made by a claim and was basically an updated NBA Jam 2v2.  Same basic mechanics.  I haven't really played any other basketball games though, so I don't know what to compare it to.

Triple dunks so it can top NBA Street Homecourt, also, old versions of teams, like 2000-2002 Lakers or something like that so you can have Kobe and Shaq on your team at the same time.

No stupid motion controls.  The Wii exclusivity scares me for this reason.  I hope they put it out for Xbox and PS3.

I want the exact same teams.  Fuck the modern NBA players.  Give me Charles Barkley, Larry Johnson, Karl Malone and friends all day.

A better effort than the last few EA Sports Wii games in terms of engine and visual style, and classic gameplay faithful to the original's simple arcade feel, with only minimal use of motion control, perhaps only optional for foul shots (WSR style with motion plus) and little else.

I don't want it to be a Wii exclusive. I'd prefer if it was a downloadable game on all consoles. It doesn't need to have amazing graphics. I want a classic mode, where you can play it how it all began, with those original players. And then I want a modern mode, with today's players. I think it'd be cool to play it with updated graphics, but with it still retaining the side-view style. Then with the option to play with today's players in the old, 2D-sprite graphics.
