Metal Gear Solid Review for PS1
This game is the first in a series of amazing games. The story is incredibly in-depth, the game play is incredibly fun, and the voice acting is terrific.
Though the game takes about an hour to get completely used to, once you've got the hang of it you won't be able to put it down. Lots of stealth action, performing actions such as breaking necks, hiding in cardboard boxes, knocking on the wall to attract guards attention, and tons of other maneuvers. It's just so much fun, because there are so many possibilities. If you want to go balls to the wall and just gun it, you can do that too, though I don't really like the shooting parts of the game. You have a huge arsenal of weapons, ranging from a silenced pistol to a STINGER missile launcher.
There is also plenty of equipment at your disposal. You can use cigarettes to reveal the location of security lasers by blowing the smoke into them. You can use a scope to scout out the locations of your enemies. You can use anxiety relief medicine to steady your aim while using a sniper rifle. There are tons more of items, including a camera you can use to take pictures (although each picture takes up 2 blocks of memory card space, so I don't use it).
The story is amazing. It's so in depth, filled with tons of twists and turns, and it's believable. Nothing incredibly far-fetched like you find in fantasy and sci-fi games, but nonetheless epic. It's somewhat hard to follow, but if you pay attention to the cut-scenes and conversations, you'll be fine.
