Ok, so Fable 2 kind of knocked it out the park, it wasn't flawless but it was a great game, with simple fun combat and an interesting world.

Then Fable 3 happened, and all of Peter Molyneux started talking about how cool Kinect (née Project Natal) was and then there was that Fable light gun thing at E3. Was that actually a game? It seems like it wasn't, we haven't heard a peep, Peter Molyneux is being sillent, while his fake twitter Peter Molydeux grabs all the headlines. So what is happening with on of the UK's brightest developers? Is there something to worry about, or is Peter Molyneux just talking about his balls.

Well Molyneux isn't technically head of Lionhead anymore, is he. He's creative director of Microsoft Game Studio's Europe, which basically means he's in charge of every European Microsoft studio, including Lionhead. That probably keeps him pretty busy with non-Lionhead shit. Without their main man at the helm, who knows what the hell is going on internally at Lionhead. It has got to be a big transition, and it probably goes a decent way to explaining the issues with Fable 3.

I thought it was a joint role?

"Don't you see, this will revolutionize video games. The first-person perspective has been done before, countless times. But with this new Fable, we're taking it to the next level; With Kinect, we will take the video game world by storm with the worlds first Zero-Person perspective. With Kinect, we can actually take your physical being and place it in the video game, therefore there is no perspective; zero perspective, zero controller. You can literally fight monsters with your bare hands, use magic, get married, all within the game. You are the perspective; you are the controller; you are the Fable."

Aren't they making that Kinect Fable game that was shown at E3 last year? You know, the one that's on rails and that everyone is really excited about?

    zing.

@Ninja: I don't know the ins and outs of it. He's definitely got some creative control over Lionhead since they're a European Microsoft studio, and he's in charge of creative direction at all European Microsoft studios. And being the founder of Lionhead, I'm sure it gets plenty of his attention. But still, he has other responsibilities now that I'm sure take up a lot of his time. And when you're used to having someone as influential as Molyneux at the helm of the studio 24/7, I'm sure it's not an easy transition to make.

Given their track record since being acquired by Microsoft, it's statistically likely that they're currently working on a bad to mediocre Fable game of some kind.

Molyneux hasn't been involved with a good game since The Movies came out in '05.
