Killzone 2 Review
Killzone 2 is a first person shooter exclusively for the PS3. You will be taking on the part of Sev, a soldier in the army, who has been sent along with said army to try to capture a very powerful man. You'll have to go through several stages where you're always going to be outnumbered, but you're a real soldier and so it is your job to keep going.
The graphics for this game are stunning. This is probably the best PS3 game I've ever seen. The character models, gun models, and level designs look amazing. The levels do, however, remind me a lot of Quake levels, and for that it kind of takes away from some of the magic.
The sounds and music for this game match what they need to be. You're going to be drawn in to the game, and hopefully you have surround sound so that you can truly experience the action that happens throughout the game. I will tell you this there will be times where the surround sound will help you find out where your enemies are.
The controls, the default ones I should say, are not all that they're cracked up to be. There are some controlling schemes that almost work, but overall there is something left to be desired. To be completely honest the controls are clumsy, and you're going to be left wanting more.
So as stated before you're a soldier who is tasked along with the rest of your squad to capture a man. You're going to go through many a level of a place that looks like its been bombed repeatedly. There are going to be the most random of spots in the level where the game is actually going to freeze up, knocking you slightly out of your gaming mindset as you wait for the PS3 to allow you to continue on with the game. Also some of the places you think would be perfect checkpoints in the game aren't and if you're foolish enough, just like me, to assume that you're reached one and exit the game you're going to get really pissed when you get back into the game.
This game has such potential that isn't fully recognized, in the story mode at least, the online game is suppose to be one hell of a sight, but for those looking for a more intimate affair you're going to be left wondering what could have been. The story really doesn't do anything special to capture me, and I just got to a point in the game where I just wanted to just be done with it. If you're looking for a game that looks amazing, has a solid online play, pick this game up. If you are looking for a Gears of War or Halo equivalent on the PS3, keep looking, this isn't going to satisfy your hunger. I know that everyone is throwing high grades for this game but let me be one of the few to give it what I think it deserves, a 7.4 out of 10.
