It's been over ten years since the idea for Infinity: The Quest For Earth was pitched, a game in which you can fly seamlessly between (and into the atmospheres of) planets. Pitched as the biggest MMO ever with a persistent galaxy on one shard where the goal was to find the long lost planet earth. The plan was to use the help of the community to crowd-source art assets to make the dream a reality.
Over ten years later, Infinity: The Quest For Earth really isn't that much closer to being made, and other games (hello Star Citizen, No Mans Sky and Elite: Dangerous) have come along to the party too. What once was a novel, almost unbelievable idea doesn't seem so impossible anymore So why am I so excited about the launch of Infinity: Battlescape?
The answer is that the Inovae team haven't been sitting around doing nothing for the last ten plus years. Instead they've been creating the most complete and downright gorgeous space game engine you will ever see:
That's a preview clip from the upcoming space combat game - Infinity: Battlescape. The goal of battlescape is to give the Inovae engine it's first real game to produce, and to show off just how awesome the tech is (while hopefully being fun too!) The game promises huge scale combat between hundreds of players across an entire solar system. If that alone doesn't whet your appetite, check out the 7 minute Kickstarter video here:

Alternatively, head to the game's website to check out some of the beautiful screenshots and ship designs:

It's been one hell of a wait, but I think it'll be worth it.
