Communism- A political ideal founded by Karl Marx (Marxism), which emphasise on a classless and equal society.
Now the everyday person when asked to state a Communist Country would say, 'China, Soviet Russia, DPRK'. In fact none of these have achieved the status of Communist. Sure they may be ruled by political parties that are/were communist, yet if you look at there policies none of them obtained equality.
The closest era to reach Communism was Russia under the rule of Lenin. Though even he only got as far as Socialism (Slight Right Wing compared). Pure Classless and Equal society is what defines Communism. The reason why it has never occurred is due to the nature of humans.
People naturally aim to achieve high and stand above each other, also if you look at how each country was ruled before communism came in. Russia was an autocratic country, a country based on class and power, which suddenly became a Communist country via a revolution. Lenin introduced plans which followed communist ideals such as Collectivisation. It was a system of farming in which each family was paid for the amount of work they did as a family. So a couple and a family of four could both work an acre of land, each earning x amount of money, even though the couple did twice the amount of work as the family on average. So as a result the family of four would earn twice as much as the couple, while only doing half the amount of work. Human nature would deem this as unfair nor accept this.
It is rather ridiculous to expect a nation of people to suddenly believe and follow total equality when they were used to class based societies. It is also absurd to think that people would willing earn and share the country's money equally. Clearly the foreign minister should earn more than a person working as a waiter.
While Communism is great as an idea, the practicality of the system is to be questioned.
