I'm betting Cosmic Smash on the Sega Dreamcast; part Fez, part racquetball, and part Breakout.

What do you think Jeff Gerstmann's game is for Guilty Treasures?
I think Mr. Do is too much of a meme response now that Jeff wouldn't do it, but who knows!
I'm hoping for something I never heard of.
@davesavedtheday: yeah I don't even really think it's Mr. Do, but since he just played it on stream, it's a response. But even during that stream he acted like that was the best game of Mr. Do he'd ever had in his life, so it seems unlikely that it would be a game he played yearly.
I, too, am hoping for a game I've never heard of. It would be nice it it was also a polygonal game that one would be able to play after hearing about it, but considering it's Jeff I assume it will be NES or earlier.
@bisonhero: I suppose that video is almost ten years old at this point....
@noboners: Yeah, it’s funny to think how long ago they put out Encyclopedia Bombastica. It was always a pretty uneven feature with wildly varying levels of participation from different staffers. I think as EB died off it created room for GB West to continue doing all of its old games features (Ranking of Fighters, every UPF where Jeff plays some terrible old games on the MiSTer, now Guilty Treasures, etc.).
@bisonhero: Which Bruce Lee game are we talking about? The one from 1984?
@matt__stan: Yeah, the 1984 Bruce Lee game. There are already two videos tagged on the site where Jeff plays it, and I swear there are 1-2 more maybe untagged/unarchived videos where Jeff solo streamed it sometime in the past 10 years.
I'd be shocked if it were Bruce Lee. It was one of the most popular games on the C64 and sold 1 million copies.
I'm going to go with a Samurai Western. It a surreal bizarre ass game that is unlike anything else, rather forgotten and got very middling review scores that did not do it any favors.
2012 syndicate is a good call. It’s something recent enough that Danny could go interview the creators semi-noclip style.
But if I had my druthers, I’d have it be OG PSO. Arguably not a guilty part of guilty pleasure, but for obscure and janky, I don’t think there is anything that Jeff has shown more love for.
Second guess would be that Tron Legacy game that Johnny V worked on, though Jeff admitted he didn’t like it much despite how much time he put into it. Dunno if it’s a really good pick.
3rd choice: it’s secretly Kane and Lynch. It’s a game he disliked but changed his whole life in a way a game otherwise never would, and in the end worked out for the best in motivating him to start Giant Bomb.
I honestly have no idea! There are some usual suspects that I could see show up, but Danny sounded kind of thrown off by it, which makes me think it’s not something like, say, Mr. Do.
Jeff said on the bombcast that it's an older game he plays through every year. Has to be Bruce Lee, given that he brings up it being an annual tradition whenever he plays that.
Or it's the one mandatory Blitzball game they make you play in FFX during the Luca tournament, another fine annual tradition in the Gerstmann household.
Its that game with the wierd looking animal trapped in a room and jeff has no idea what hes doing in the game but he says he plaays it once a year. You click things and stuff happens like an elephant trunk comes through the door. forgot the name of the game though
its a japanese game
can anyone remember the name of this game ?
edit found it : ganbare neo poke-kun
Always wanted something like this for MULE from him (I know Jeff likes MULE) with some appreciation for Bunten and how much this dev and their designs cast an infinite shadow - gotta wonder how much these games helped get EA off the ground at least.
Side guess is Jumpman, but I'm not sure how much meat is there for a video.
