Unsanctioned Unofficial Game Pass Game Club voting thread for cycle starting 7/11/2022

Hello and thanks for your interest in the Unsanctioned Unofficial Game Pass Game Club. If you don't know what it is you can see more about the Game Club here. There is also where you can suggest games for future cycles, though this current vote will stay with the games listed below.

To vote in this thread simply list your top two choices with one labeled choice 1 and the other labeled choice 2. Choice 1 gets 3 points and choice 2 gets 1 point. The game with the highest point count wins. If there is a tie then I will break it, but I will not be voting otherwise.

You can vote even if you have not participated in the Game Club (and voting does not obligate you to participate but we ask that you not vote if you have no interest in participating) and you do not need to vote to participate in this or future cycles. You are also free to vote for games you are interested in and not participate if that game does not win, though it's more fun if people are willing to try games they may not be initially interested in. To avoid "ballot stuffing" I may, at my discretion, throw out the votes from new accounts that don't have prior posting histories on this site, though if one or two people create new accounts to vote that's fine (provided you do not have another pre-existing account.)

Voting will close on July 11, 2022 when the next game will be announced. I will tabulate the votes then so you may change your vote at any time prior by editing your post. Please do not make multiple voting posts in this thread, though discussion is encouraged. You can feel free to campaign for the game you want to win and make arguments why it is the best choice.

Games for which there appears to be interest will remain on the list in subsequent weeks but may be cycled out if we reach a point where there are too many nominated game for orderly voting. Games removed from the list will remain eligible to be nominated for future cycles at which point they will be put back on the list.

NOMINATED GAMES:

Telling Lies (FMV investigation game, somewhat hard to explain but based around asking questions to try and figure out a central mystery, approx 4 hours long)

Carrion (Alien slime creature Metroidvania focused on puzzle solving and traversal challenges. Approx 4.5 hours long.) NOTE THAT THIS IS LEAVING THE SERVICE ON JULY 15 SO IF IT IS SELECTED THE CYCLE WILL BE ABREVIATED. I am leaving it on in case there is overwhelming desire to play it for the club before it leaves but I'd prefer it not be selected for this reason.

Paradise Killer (3D investigation/visual novel game set in a psychadelic paradise at the end of the world. Approx 14 hours long.)

Olija (Cinematic action platformer with a dark story and an equal mix of combat/platforming. Approx 4.5 hours long.)

Unpacking (Game about unpacking and arranging belongings after moving, with a focus on thematic storytelling. Approx 3.5 hours long.)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder's Revenge (Homage to classic Konami TMNT beat 'em up games with online multiplayer and various modernizations. Very much like an update to games like Turtles in Time. Approx 2.5 hours long.)

Similar to the Carrion situation, we have Escape Academy and Power Wash Simulator coming to Game Pass on the 14th. Would those be eligible for this cycle (with the knowledge that the first 3 days would be a wash), or should we just wait for the 25th? In either case:

@allthedinos: The general rule is that games can be nominated before they are released but won't be put on the list until they are out so that people can read reviews and know how long they are. For Power Wash Simulator that might not be as relevant because it has been released on PC, but what is relevant is that it isn't on the nomination list for this round of voting so votes for it will not be counted. We want to avoid people voting for un-nominated games so we don't end up with 5 people all voting for whatever they are interested in and a 5 way tie.

I can add both games to the next voting cycle though I'd appreciate if you went to the main thread and nominated them there just because it's easier to keep track of. You can edit your vote in this thread to something else (though of course I will count the Unpacking vote because the game was nominated.)

I'm going to leave this open for a bit in the hopes of getting more votes. I obviously have no objection to Unpacking but my preference is to get as many votes as possible when selecting a game in the hopes of raising participation. Of course if you also want to do Unpacking you can make your voice heard on that as well!

My standard MO is to choose the two 2nd place finishers XD [which actually happens to be my preference again haha], but I'll refrain. Unpacking sounds good to me. Telling Lies has been floating near the top of the other GP club I do, but has yet to break out.
