Summary of the dream: some kind of PC management/strategy game set in space. Your are presented with maps of unexplored rocky planets, presented as a hex grid-style map. You have some way to dispatch unmanned rovers to survey each hex of land to try to assess, and then send mining drones to the hex to harvest valuable resources. Unclear what the push/pull was in terms of making the game challenging. Not sure if it was real-time or turn-based, but either makes sense.
It definitely wasn’t a basebuilding game. I’ve been playing a lot of Dome Keeper lately (and thinking about SteamWorld Dig) which probably inspired my dream brain, so I’d say the general vibe is “efficient mining/resource extraction” and not so much 4X or anything.
Does something like this game exist? I’d play it. Also I’ll probably keep playing Dome Keeper.
