it's unlikely that the number in the chart is anything other than in store purchases of physical dvd roms. If you included digital I imagine it must dwarf the above number

While the numbers are likely not accurate it can be a decent gauge on how games are performing. And since the industry is so tight lipped about sales figures, unless they want to brag about good sales, this is the best that common folk have to go by.

Yea, I'm surprised there aren't more PC owners, but I suppose some are waiting till the festive period to upgrade.

@Contro: I currently play on the 360. As soon as I have enough money to upgrade my graphics cards to something beefier (still running "sweet spot" DX10 era cards in Crossfire) I intend to pick up the game for PC. Only reason I got it on 360 at all is because that's where my brother and a couple other friends play, none of whom have high-end gaming PCs.

Still surprised Mario Kart Wii is still selling.

These sorts of figures were only ever a best guess and are always skewed by only capturing the American market. With the advent of digital sales I wouldn't even give these stats a second thought, they're probably wildly inaccurate since most PC players would have bought the digital copy.

Why's that? This is retail sales. PC games never fair well on retail game charts. Digital stores never show up on these charts.

I know 14 people who bought Battlefield 3 on the PC. Of those 14, three purchased it through a retail market. Amazon. The other 11 preordered on Origin. I got it from Amazon for the $49.99 deal.

I'm willing to bet if this game were on Steam, there'd be a lot fewer retail sales and a whole ton more digital sales. I'm sure a lot of those retail sales were people trying to avoid Origin.

I just hate it when kids and douchbags say illogical and stupid things about the PC platform being inferior in some way, resulting in these false ideas spreading to the unguided and lost, destroying the chances of having games like BF3 with groundbreaking graphics or large, epic games only possible on the PC--games that have to be streamlined and cut apart to cater to the limited console hardware. With sales like that, people will support PCs less and we'll get less good games.

People who can afford HDTVs, mansions, yachts, and convertible Mercedes Benzes need to stop being dumb and learn how to build PCs themselves without saying that consoles are the way to go, for it's cheaper and 'less nerdier' for gamers.
