I wish this game had not been made.

FFX is my all-time favorite game, and I really didn't do any research on the sequel, I got it because of the original. And wish I hadn't. To me, FFX is what FFVII wanted to be, and FFX-2 is what it ended up being. It had alot of potential, but really didn't fulfill it. I view it as a bad fanfiction joke. And I want to stress, THIS IS NOT YUNA! And not just because it doesn't even look like her anymore. Those who think she's more confident and such are simply not paying attention. After playing it through once, I didn't touch it for years, and when I did, I had a new perspective. Yuna is lost and is merely playing along by copying Rikku. After all, her becoming a sphere hunter was Rikku's idea in the first place and she even picked out Yuna's outfit for her(Eternal Calm). And Yuna is perfectly happy taking orders from everyone and unhappy when asked to make decisions, where in FFX she was the one leading the whole pilgrimage, even defying the closest people to her(Lulu/Wakka) when she chose to became a summoner. And Rikku tells Yuna not to copy her, yet also gives her a hard time when the real Yuna surfaces. Seriously?! As for her 'happiness', remember in FFX she went on about how she learned to act happy when she wasn't feeling happy. And she wasn't...she admits that something vital is missing from her life constantly throughout the game.

Paine, Nooj, Gippal, Baralai, and the Leblanc Syndicate have no purpose for the ultimate storyline. Actually most of the stuff you do in this game has nothing to do with advancing the real story. And being able to choose what ending you want is kinda stupid...it should only have one ending. Wasn't a big deal in FFX when you got to choose whether Luzzu or Gatta died, since it had no real impact on the ending, but having different endings...what's the point? Especially since the whole reason Yuna became a sphere hunter was to get Tidus back, and her frequent thoughts throughout the game only make sense if she's talking to him, and if you don't want him to come back, don't play the game!

And the game is basically just totally superficial and not for the thinker really, since they leave huge plot points unexplained...like WTF was Leblanc doing in that concert in the opening act after stealing the garment grid? What was the point, and how did she steal it in the first place? And she steals again from the Gullwings later because they're not careful with the spheres they find. Speaking of Leblanc, I refuse to accept her as a fellow woman...I don't know what Leblanc is and I don't want to know!

Good mechanics, too much fan service 0

Final Fantasy X was my favorite of the series. In particular I loved Yuna - the summoner who faces difficult choices with a grave dignity, no matter what she is asked to sacrifice. Unfortunately, in X-2 she has apparently decided to get rid of her previous personality entirely, in favor of some unholy combo of Rikku (who is super annoying here... and I didn't mind her in X) and a Spice Girl. I'm not arguing with the concept of character development - of course Yuna would have changed after ...
