For me it comes down to Veronica and Boone.

The post-apocalyptic Fallout universe expands into Nevada in this new title in the franchise. As a courier once left for dead by a mysterious man in a striped suit, the player must now set out to find their assailant and uncover the secrets of the enigmatic ruler of New Vegas.
Favorite Companion?
Raul is really awesome, his side quest lands him an awesome Mexican gunslinger outfit, Danny Trejo rules as this character
You can go on adventures with a ghoul Danny Trejo.
How is fallout: New Vegas not the best game ever?
" what use is ED-E? All I see him do is play the western theme whenever I go into battle... nothing else.. "
Carries a lot of shit and isn't picky about joining you when you have another companion. Unlike everyone else.
Not a lot of love for Cass which makes me sad. Something about a foul mouthed no bullshit woman is appealing as a sidekick.
Boone is extremely powerful, but having a sarcastic scientist with a plasma pistol melting guys along for the ride is the way that the wasteland should be enjoyed.
Cass is a lot of fun : "shh, we're hunting shitheads" and the quest was extremely satisfying to complete
I wonder if ghoul Danny Trejo also wants us to avoid moving our feet...
i like hunting shitheads with cass but i dont like how she wants good karma i have to park her around the corner when i murder somone lol
Boone can be dressed up in practically any outfit. He looked very Bondish wearing formal attire with the silenced .22, which I had him in during casino quests.
Cass is my favorite of the companions I've used (Boone, Veronica, Lilly, Cass).
Her Whiskey Rose perk is amazing. You ignore the effects of alcohol withdrawal, and drinking whiskey specifically provides an added boost to...some combat stat that I am forgetting right now. Before I met Cass, I hadn't touched a drop of liquor in Fallout. She corrupted me and I love it.
It's also fun to have your own whiskey in real life and take a sip every time Cass says "I need a drink."
I think that most of the companions are really good, obviously incredibly improved over Fallout 3.
Anyway, for me its Veronica/Boone/Cass, voted for Boone though. This is of course on the personality basis, for gameplay it has to be ED-E.
I chose Boone! I sympathized with him the most out of all the companions and felt like finally being able to do some justice with him at Bitter Springs was probably the most satisfying and memorable companion quest, especially with how he is described on the radio afterwards as being an angel wielding a ".308 caliber flaming sword of justice - with a telescopic sight."
Boone. I can run through the wasteland and he'll snipe shit before I even know they're there (cause I always drop my perception down to like 2, so I literally never know when shit is coming).
edit- Killing Cass in that sidequest was hella fun though. like, "ok, I'll come with you", and then she gets two shotgun blasts to the back of the head.
Cass, she's by far the most developed companion out of all of them. Boone is just a generic soldier type and Danny Trejo's voice work on Raul sounds like he was bored. Rex is my favorite non-human companion, who DOESN'T want a robot dog?
I know the thread's gone stale, but - during the Sierra Madre DLC you get "Vera's dress", very sexy. If you give it to Cass she wears it. Unbeatable for elegance and humor (the cowboy hat stays on)
