A destructible environment means the player has the ability to destroy his/her surroundings. This allows players to use the environment to their advantage.
I would think the criteria should be more than barrels and boxes. Being able to destroy barrels and boxes doesn't mean the environment is destructable. They are simple objects that are destructable.
